Perfect design for their intended use
To me, Fender nailed these pickups right on the head. Do they hum? In my tele, barely, and only at high volume/gain, and they are still better than some hum buckers. Do they sound like single coils? Pretty dang close, but in my opinion, only single coils will ever sound like single coils. These pickups have great tone, strong output, and the volume is pretty equal no matter where the selector switch is, which I love. Beautiful sounding and quiet as a church mouse!
Thought I would try these pups in my Fender 2017 American Professional Series Telecaster, despite varying reviews. To be fair, most of the reviews were about the n3 version and not the new n4's. Also, most were for the Strat and not the Tele. Although I was pretty happy with the tone I was getting from my V-Mods that came stock, I was getting that 60-cycle hum from the neck pickup that was bugging me so I thought I would try the n4's, despite hearing that I might lose some of that crispy twang that Tele's are known for. These bad boys are brighter than the V-Mods, in my opinion and are super quiet even when I am pushing my overdrives.

Great sounding pickups at the best price.
GREAT sounding pickups. Clean, clear, warm, articulate. Made my Tele sound like a pure guitar. I had one problem: the neck pickup would cut out and go dead. After many tries to determine the problem I finally hit the connections with a hot soldering iron. It was a cold solder joint. That fixed it immediately. If you're looking for a vintage sound, look elsewhere. These have a very modern sound. But they will bring your guitar to life and make it a joy to play. I'm running through a BOSS Katana Artist amp. It's the perfect combination. Also installed a Warmoth Conversion neck: 24 3/4" scale...outstanding play and sound.Read full review...

Not the appearance and sound that I like .
It's not the best in my book, they are to clear, brittle to my ears, I got them on my Fender Telecaster and have to back up my treble half way almost to get a sound that I like, The top finish of the pickup is kind of rough and bumpy, not what I would expected to be.

If you want a genuine Fender Telecaster sound, buy a genuine Fender Telecaster pickup. Anything else, is just someone else's "interpretation" of the Fender sound.
