Truly an AMAZING film!!! I've seen it many times (and own it, of course) - my favorite! Tom must have know how good it would turn out, because he did NOT ask for a specific amount of money, rather, he asked for a percent. That ultimately netted him in the region of forty million dollars.

Great Music and Great Movie

Many people here are giving this product a bad rap. The problem is not the product but the buyer not knowing what they want and not asking questions. The songs are wonderful and can make you drift away to another era. This movie covered a lot of significant points in American History and the songs just add more to each time period covered. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone, especially students in high school and college age. Hey, could be a possible theme or dissertation piece.Read full review...

Your own Mini Flashback!

Like the movie the soundtrack runs the timeline from late 50's to early 80's music covering rockabilly, soul, pop, R&B, country, folk, surfin' music, you name it.
I also appreciate that it includes songs often overlooked by today's Classic radio stations. Not a rehash of what you hear everyday.
A great CD as a stand alone item but if you've seen the movie you'll recall some of the scenes as you listen, your own mini FLASHBACK. Unlike most compilations this hasn't any throw it in there "Filler" songs. Well done!Read full review...

I was BLOWN AWAY !! Best Album Ever Made !!!

This is an AMAZING album ! I thought the movie was about some silly, goofy guy with a "box of chocolates" and a Shrimp Boat-BUT boy was I wrong !!!! Just watched the movie for the first time 2 months ago & was literally BLOWN AWAY ! The movie's story is SO MUCH MORE than I thought and I was embarassed that I shunned it for so long. Watched it for the first time with my boyfriend, he hadn't seen it either (we are both in our early 50's and lived through the Vietnam era). The music in the movie is definately THE BEST movie sound track ever made, from any movie or play. The movie made us re-live that part of history again & we just HAD TO HAVE the sound track. BUT be careful you are purchasing the right c/d, as there is another one called Forrest Gump, with a green cover with him & the girl sitting in a tree-that is not the one with all the great music, it is the original motion picture score, which is just the back ground instrimental music-NOT any of the cool songs. I bought that one at first-by mistake. Be sure to get the one with the white cover. It has 2 disks in it with what seems like a jillion great songs. You'll never get tired of listening to this one.
