A Frighteningly Terrible Game!

Based off the "movie(s)", Friday the 13th on NES features goofy enemies, nonsensical gameplay, bizarre graphics, and an awfully crafted frustrating map system. Play it late at night for some good laughs.Read full review...

Classic Cheese

It's Friday the 13th.... So if you're a horror fan it's a must have. Honestly though, the game isn't that great. You basically run around lighting fireplaces and trying to save campers/kids. The main thing I don't like about the game is that the map is not very useful and navigation from cabin to cabin can be troublesome. Buy it, play it for a couple of times, and put it on your collectors shelf....

A rare, well-made LJN title with a genuinely frighting Jason!

Probably the best product from the dubious LJN. The controls are nice, the graphics are well done, and while the outdoors music can be grating, the music in the cabins is wonderfully haunting.

The game is genuinely frightening, and this is helped by the CPU keeping track of Jason throughout the game. Travelling on the road, visiting cabins, and boating across the lake, Jason can potentially spring up anywhere and while being driven away, he will realistically travel to find a cabin to rest or stalk another victim down the same path you have encountered him; he doesn't randomly spawn around the map.

The game is not problem free, the zombies you encounter are ridiculous, the default rock weapon requires you to be ducking, and the Crystal Lake map can be difficult and not intuitive, and the map travel music is easily annoying (but must be left on so you can hear the Jason alarm). The game is also extremely difficult, requiring almost Battletoads levels of perseverance.

In conclusion, a fun, scary, NES gaming classic, but not without it's faults and require patience to get the most out of it.

Friday the 13th (NES) is Very DIfficult

This game is about wandering around a summer camp as a camp counseller in an effort to save the children from a serial killer, hoping to avoid getting killed yourself.

This game has nostalgic value for me. As a kid I saw others playing and would be scared senseless by Jason's abrupt attacks, which can come at any time. I bought it again now so I could have a chance to conquer it for once and overcome how scary the game always has been to me. Other games that scared and overwhelmed me as much are Jaws and Maniac Mansion, both of which I own and have now beaten.

I love how tense and scary it is. I hate how difficult it is to navigate and how random the item appearances are. A lot of beating this game is random chance, and a game should never be like that because it takes away from the satisfaction of improving one's skills to overcome the challenges.

The game was made too difficult and repetitive, and these factors combined with the random chance of item appearances are what keep the game from being too enjoyable. As a game I'd say it was poorly designed because of the ridiculous difficult and steep, steep learning curve, but if you want a ridiculous challenge and don't mind not being able to save your progress, this is the game for you.

NES Friday the 13th game

Recently purchased a Friday the 13th NES game. The game worked with no issues and once I started playing it remind me of the days when I was a kid. Then I quickly remembered how frustrating the game was. Would definitely buy from this person again. Received item quickly.Read full review...

Filthy cartridge that required extensive cleaning to get to a moderately functioning state. Take at least some pride in the products you sell. Very go

Friday The 13th (NES) Review 5/10

Friday the 13th is the kind of game that people assume will be awesome because it's based on the awesome movie of the same name and admititly when I was a kid I did enjoy playing this but looking at it today I can't help but wonder why. You play as one of the camp counslers and your weapon is a rock that arcs over everything unless it's clear across the screen or right on top of you...getting the knife is a must it shoots straight out. Anyway you go around into cabins collecting potions, lighters, and more. The problem occurs when you hear the "JASON ALARM" which is a counter that tells you that Jason is in a cabin after the children and you have a short amount of time to get there and save them. That in itself isn't a bad thing but you'll soon notice that your map is backwards if you go to the map when the Alarm's going off you'll see yourself and one cabin blinking...that's where you need to go BUT if the cabin is left from where you are exit the map and go right. There is also a cave and a forest that you can get lost in because you won't see where you are on the map and the background all looks the same. This game is ok but in the long run they could have done much better. All in all I give this game a 5 out of 10Read full review...

Great, inexpensive game.

This is an underrated game. It has a lot of hidden stuff and is definitely worth giving a chance.

It's FUN!

This may be biased, but I have loved this game since I first played it in the 80's. Most people HATE this game because of the confusing movement on the map and a billion other reasons, but hey, it's FUN! Read full review...

Looks fabulous. Works great! Met Jason and fought him less than 5 minutes in. He won :) Thank you very much, well done.
