The best GPS. Work in car, train even in area craft.
I use this GPS a few years. I cannot imagine, that can be better gadget.
It functional in the car, train and even in area craft. It is essential in a new city.
Micro card can be loaded with detailed map of any region.
I used it in my travelling in North America, South America, Europe. It has outstanding performance. Supply all essential information.
For example, I used it for preparation in Italia. In my house in Canada, I marked all my Italian points.
I did the same for trip to Buenos Aires. Taxi there expensive for me. We took a bus in aeroporto. It took about two hours by bus. But all time I was monitoring how far bus moved in reference to our hotel. I knew nothing in the city, but when distance between the hotel and the bus become 1000 feet, we stopped the bus. Got out and in 5 minutes where in our hotel.
Unit very comfortable. Easy to use. Two AA battery can serve non crop about 24 hours. This is wonderfully unit. I have one. But one thought that such miracle can disappear, force me to buy another copy. Now I have two and I'm happy.

Not really very practical as too much info is jammed into too small a screen.
The screen is overly small and crowded. The functions are quite complex and difficult to learn. The color is nice but the graphics are fuzzy rather than clear. The instrument eats batteries like crazy -- especially when the operator is trying to learn.Read full review

Reliable GPS
I use my Garmin eTrex Vista HCX GPS for all my activities, walking, cycling, motorcycle and canoing. It is very reliable, easy to mount and works well in all condition, including rain.
Most of my planning, i.e. add waypoints and routes, I do using Mapsource on Windows PC as the device is slow to pan or zoom maps.Read full review

Older model but solid
Great GPS to carry in the field. Fits easily in a coat/jacket pocket. The replaceable AA batteries last 15-20 hrs. Lots of features, usual manual available online. Pairs well with Garmin BaseCamp and Mapsource. Not Wi-Fi capable but can be connected to computer with a mini-usb for transferring waypoints and routes to to and from the GPS. The unit locks onto satellites very well even in dense cover and holds onto them well. Although it is WAAS capable, it is not GLONASS capable. One downside of both the Vista HC, HCX and the Legend HC, HCX is that eventually the black rubber "band" that goes around the outside of the GPS will stretch and come unattached. Garmin has no repair for this problem.Read full review

E Trex Vista HCX GPS receiver
I've been very happy with this old school GPSr. I have a new Garmin Oregon with a touch screen, but not being a smartphone user, it's taken me some time to learn to use it well. I feel like the Vista gets me closer to geocaches than the Oregon. The Oregon seems to have a delay in its workings that often takes me past "ground zero" and I need to backtrack to the cache location. Anyway, I've been quite satisfied with the older model over the last 8 years.Read full review

the hand held device is a good deal the only thing is the sealer should have indulged the fact that it did not have a S D card slot that make a big difference when trying to get map programs lucky we had the old programs or it would have been returned. Read full review

Like new. Works great.
I've used this model since it came out over en years ago. It was a bitch to learn to use. The manual is useless. But once learned it suits my needs perfectly. Modern models with touch screens and built in rechargeable batteries can't be used with gloves and have a run time of less than a day. This one uses buttons and can last several days on longer lasting AA batteries. It's not advertised as waterproof but has withstood use on my bicycle in some heavy rains. My old faithful was stolen off my bike. Glad to locate this like new replacement so long after they are no longer made.Read full review
