genji still worth playing time

Days of the Blade delivers a next-generation tour of Feudal Japan - it's a truly pretty game - too bad it never lets players off the bus to explore it for themselves. For all the processing power of the PS3, Days of the Blade offers the kind of experience expected of a Genji sequel on PS2.certain aspects of the game truly shine. It's not an absolute disappointment, but when it comes to a next-gen launch title, regardless of the platform, it needs to impress - both in how it looks and how it plays.
The latter being the more important of the two. Having said that, Days of the Blade does improve on its predecessor in a number of ways. The biggest addition lies in the number of characters available. Players can choose from among four now, and thankfully they all offer something different. The main character, Yoshitsune, can dual-wield swords and attacks quickly. The second character, a tank named Benkei, swings a massive ornate club and attacks slowly. Shizuka, a lithe female warrior, twirls around her enemies and slices at them with tethered blades. The last character, the one kept secret by Sony until very recently, is Buson, the last boss from Dawn of the Samurai. That's a nice roster of fighters, especially considering their individual strengths.
The additional characters and weapons certainly help, as does the flexible combat system. The game also offers amazing vistas and epic boss fights. Regardless of how someone dresses a corpse, though, it’s still a corpse. And that’s the main problem here. Beneath the gleaming surface lies an old heart that’s just about had it. Days of the Blade gets half the formula right. Sadly, it’s the wrong half. In the end, fans of the original should take a look, but anyone looking for a true next-generation action title will need to wait.

Cool for older kids!

My husband bought this PS3 game for our twelve-year old boy. I have not played the game myself, but I have watched my son play it a lot. My concern with video games for his age group is always blood, gore and sex. He is kind of in-between games rated E-T. I really try hard to monitor every kind of media my son and his two younger brothers view, while being realistic about what is out there and what could actually be detrimental to their upbringing. This game does have a couple of bad words in it, which I don't like, but they are not among society's most "horrible" bad words. The thing about T-rated games, my husband explained to me, is that the skill level is more up to my son's level. He is being challenged to learn his way through this adventure, which arguably,is good for critical thinking/problem-solving skills. I have not witnessed any blood or gore, though there is fighting in the game. All in all, it is not a bad game for older kids (pre-teen). Boys would probably prefer it, but there is a cool female character in there for girls as well. My son loves it, my younger kids want to play it, but I won't let them just yet! My only personal beef with it so far, is the soundtrack...it drives me NUTS!Read full review...

Good game

The graphics are great.... the transition between the gameplay and the cut scenes seems smooth... Its the first time I have seen gameplay that switches between the characters of the game and that too can be done with such ease...

The game though seems to be have been designed with just one intent... too many enemies... Sometimes it feels like there are just too many to handle...

The camera angles is the worst part of the game... But i guess its bearable !!!

The final battle though is disappointment, could have been a lot better !!

Overall a good game which will keep you glued to the console for quite some time !

Genji - Days of the Blade

Pros:
-Great Graphics
-Stunning Visuals
-Interesting story line.
-Shows off what the PS3 can show with the blu-ray.
-Menus are bright and feel welcoming.

Cons:
-Not that fun, just another hack and slash game.
-Kind of difficult to control the characters movements and attacks.
-Fixed camera angle makes it hard to play.
-Fighting seems repetitive.
-Loading screen after every area.(5-10 seconds)

I would only recommend this game if you can get it under $20 not worth a penny more now.

Pretty good for its price ($12)

I played the first one on PS2 but Ive read this one was pretty bad. In my opinion its not a great game but it isnt that bad the audio and grafics are excellent. One thing that is bad about this game is the camera everything else is fine.

If you like this type of games buy it. For $10-$15 its worth it, but definitely not worth paying $65 brand new when it came out.

I like it! specially for its price and its beautiful to look at, and you can change the spoken language to the original Japanese which is wayyyy better and lip sync is perfect.

Not so good but not that all bad

Pros: Nice Graphics, Challenging Stages, Cheaper prices compare when this game was first released( averaging $30 to $40 ).

Cons: Horrible camera Positioning... as if you are like 75% blind... you see your character but not the enemies... Horrible Japanese dubbing... they should made it pure Japanese with English Captions, maybe it'll sound a little better.... Now I know why this one is selling $35 a pop... Until Sony releases New exciting games.... this is worth the time... I guess.Read full review...

Above average. If your into adventure, i would recommend

I like how the game makes your skills improve the further you get into it, there are less auto-save spots making it more challenging to begin at a further point as oppose to at the beginning of the game there are auto-save spots every other scene it seems like. Once you get towards the end it seems as if there is an auto-save every 4 to 5 levels. Graphics are great and character selection comes in handy. You may get bored when you die and have to go through the same things you already beat 7 to 8 different times before you reach the next auto-save but the gratification you get when you reach that next auto-save is definately worth it.Read full review...

Great game, dispite it's bad reviews.

I read the reviews and bought this game only because I got it on ebay brand new for 10 bucks. I wasn't expecting much because of the reviews but I really like this game. The graphics are great. One of the best looking ps3 games. They're overlooked because of the low ratings. The game play is pretty good if you're into those hack and slash games. The RPG elements make the game better too. You get to level up your characters and their weapons. One of my favorite things was the boss battles. They're pretty good. Specially the big bosses. The game difficulty can get really high and even frustrate you a little sometimes but I prefer that over a really easy game. The only negative thing I found about the game was the lack of camera control. The camera switches angles as you move but despite the lack of camera control it didn't give me any problems playing the game. So anyone who complains about that being a problem most likely sucks at games. So to wrap up my review, I liked the game. It's pretty underrated and at the price you can find it on ebay I say give it a try.Read full review...

Good but far from great

Stunning graphic, Good story, Good music and sound effect. Loads fast with hard drive installation. Able to use different characters and different weapons. There are too many places you need to start all over again when made a mistake. some level design does not make any sense. No way to change viewing angles.

This game could be one of the greatest but it is not. It would have be good if developer add adjustable viewing angles.
