Excellent, with a few minor caveats

The camera is fantastic. It shoots excellent photos and decent quality video. However, it lacks many of the features introduced in the next iteration (Hero 3+) which limit its usefulness in some situations. In anything above 1080p it is fixed as a wide-angle shot, the ProTune software lacks the profiles for color correction (which must therefore be done manually), and it doesn't have a viewscreen. However the trade-off is significant - the Hero 3 Black has arguably the best built-in mic of any in the Hero series, it has better battery life than newer models, and it allows users to easily connect an external microphone for even better sound quality. Unfortunate Experience.

Upon video playback there is a high pitch constant beep both on the computer and the device. I returned the item and will actually purchase another one as this is a good deal hard to pass. Hopefully there will not be the same problem.Read full review...

To carry on your backpack, is awesome.

The GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition produces some of the best -- if not the best -- video we've seen from an action cam. Its abundant resolution and frame rate options will satisfy beginners and experienced shooters.
The Bad Navigating the on-camera settings menus still isn't the best experience. Battery life can be brief depending on the features you're using. Plan to buy accessories including a microSD card.
The Bottom Line Like the Hero3, the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition's strongest attributes are its excellent video quality and impressive list of shooting options. If that's what matters most to you, this is the action cam to get.

Great little camera with a lot of kick

I love the gopro hero3 black edition, bought the pro hero3 silver edition earlier... but wanted a more in depth visual, better slow motion effects. I do highly recommend getting the touchscreen bac pack on this, so you can see what you are filming & go thru menu options better. It's also good to invest in the many options of wearing your gopro or mounting. Only gripe I have with this is the battery life, & if you use the extended battery pac, you add on dimension to camera... I like the convenience of small portability. HERO3 is an average camera with exceptional features in a small package.

For a sports camera in well lit areas the camera shines. This is the selling point of the gopro and they listened to their audience.

Low lit areas with the hero3 are hit/miss. Good luck.
>Sound quality is fair with the case removed. The target market will most likely be replacing the recorded audio with a musical sound track so its not a deal breaker for most. If however you want to record anything other than sports to where you want to hear what people are saying, an external microphone is needed for any serious vocal recording. You will need to purchase another mic friendly case for your hero3 and the optional usb to 3.5mm mic adapter. This sets you back an additional 50-75. When you include a microphone your looking at 150 easy.

Mounted on my Polaris Ranger s x s offroad vehicle

I have mounted my Ultra Pro Action cam 4 camera on my off road Polaris Ranger.
This has to be one of the harshest conditions that anyone could install
these cameras on. lots of bumps, jumps and dust and water/mud puddles.
And this camera using its stabilization feature takes everything I have thrown
at it. 655 miles of trail riding and never missed a beat. the battery lasts about
5 to 6 hours of continuous recording. And a second battery is only about $5.00
The camera records in segments on its own. you just set the length of each one.
The benefit of this Brilliant feature is that it records for your set time and continues
on to the next segment. Once you get back to camp and download the videos to
your computer, they are in those segments on your computer.
Ever try to put a video on you tube that's 5hours long? Never happen..
However, with segments its a lot easier to post your videos.
Rear display shows what you are recording, as well as help to point the camera
in the correct direction. This camera came with more accessories than you might
ever use. But this gives you many mounting methods and positions.
You need to order the action cam 4... Not the WiFi version. As there is no stabilization.

Best extreme sport camera on the market

Go pro is a super powerful camera for extreme sport uses it very easy to use battery life finishes is reasonable for sport activity it lasts hour to hour and half as ur doing ur sport Session ur not gonna run for 2 hour :D if u keep it on the stock update it lasts longer but it freezes some time but wen u upgrade you'll notice the battery life it's shorter but no error with the camera I'm glad I have the hero 2 + silver edition and the black edition every one has its own flavour in my opinion but of corse the black edition is a master camera my advice if u hv the hero 2 stay to it or get the blck edition comes there's little different btwn the hero 2 and the silver plus as I said weather ur getting any camera it's worth it .....Read full review...

Amazing Amazing AMAZING camera!

This camera is absolutely amazing! Its light wait, small and easy to work with! I use this for paintball, And when I went it was early in the morning and it was soooo foggy This camera did a amazing job I could see so far in the video it was like the fog wasn't there! I run, jump, crawl. And I shook the crap out of it in the video And the camera has a anti shake setting that woks amazing! I also set it on my car and went up to 85 mph and the camera picked everything up great! I watched videos on YouTube for this camera and was sketchy about buying it cuz the reviews on YouTube made the camera look fuzzy, But I promise you this is clear as day and such good quality the camera had no signs of fuzziness or any bad quality looks!! Excellent concept, good product, needed to be more stable in quality

The camera by itself is a very useful product. Easy to use and at the same time granted a lot of emotions after the shoting. But... Be afraid of several unuseful moments:
1. It is needed to pump the battery. Initially it was alive around 20-30 minutes only. I hope to get the more adequate life time of the camera further on.
2. Not every microSD card can be used with GoPro. Use 10 speed class and higher ones.
3. To be fully ready for all possible variants of shoting it is needed to by some additional stuff: different variants of mounts, additional LDC screen, additional batteries etc. i even bought the very useful Pelican case for GoPro special here.:)
In any case good luck to all of you reading with your GoPro. I have read a lot of stories on different pronlems with it, so it is absolutelly necessary to have a warranty available.Read full review...

Very inexpensive, easy to use. Compatible with most Go Pro accessories, for a fraction of the price. Liked the Ultra Pro 4, bought the Ultra Pro 7. 2 cameras for less than the price of 1 Go Pro.
