Worthy of Best Game Ever!

The game is absolutely fantastic. The story never loses it's touch nor its originality. The game features a wide new array of enemies and useful weapons, but the return of some of the things that you loved from the previous games! The graphics are astounding, this game uses the PS3s graphics engine to the maximum and with fantastic performance. The characters are still unique and Kratos's anger can not burn out.

The only con I can say is that the weapons are all the same except for the Cetus. They are all swords but all have different fighting styles and powers, so you won't get bored! This game is not getting shelved any time soon for me and I will replay it as much as I can.

This is the best way to give the beloved Kratos the farewell he deserves and wrap up the storyline that has spanned for over 5 years.

The Good, The Bad and the Greek

The Good: An excellent, variety-filled combat system with plenty of upgrades; Lots of challenging yet not impossible puzzles; Kratos is a highly entertaining antihero, and the story constructed for him works brilliantly; Beautiful character designs and environments are backed up by a technically excellent engine; One of the best orchestral scores we've ever heard.

The Bad: Combat can occasionally get away from you and feel a tad button-mashy; A few janky animations here and there.

When all is said and done, God of War is simply a high-class production in every single facet of its package. From the finely balanced gameplay, to the magnificent presentation, to the great roster of unlockable extras, you can't help but be impressed by what this game has to offer. It's simply a marvelously executed experience that's fun from beginning to end, and anyone with a taste for mature content and the action adventure genre would be foolish to pass it up.

Beautiful gameplay, but a little short

In this third installment, Kratos takes on the remaining gods and Zeus himself in a beautiful and ruthless campaign. Overall, the game gets 4/5 for story, graphics, and game-play. The story is 4/5 as it does advance well from the previous 2 installments that I would recommend playing. It does not, however, go into too much detail how you ended up climbing Mt. Olympus so it may be confusing at first and the end does lose some value, but I won't spoil anything, but an ending is an ending even if we don't like it to be. Graphics are spectacular 5/5 as the scenery looks vast and detailed in full HD. Characters and effects are great eye candy as you slay many evil creatures of mythology. Game play I give 3/5 because the story on normal can be done in a day with experienced players and even on hard (depending on your persistence). side challenges are neat as it adds some extra playtime, but clearly those who play single player games are interested in in-depth story modes. The game play also can get repetitive with each creature as you go swinging your blades of different variety which end up being very similar anyways. Not much else has changed either. The puzzles in this game are not complex as in other installments (which makes it easier to walk though I would guess).

One last thing as we know someone always does this.
**Caution to those who never read the cover rating, that there is nudity and sex content in the game, and not just gruesome violence. So please use your head when purchasing if you would take offense or have family. **
It is ancient Greece after all...

God of war 3 REVIEW

This is a great game.Fun and fustrating in one package. If your a fan of the series and you were all hyped up then your in for a small dissapointment but if not then its a great game.It is just a button smasher with a cool stoory about greek mythogy.

Story-9/10 (It has a good story and killing all gods make it even better but the ending doesnt really end it at all)

GAMEPLAY-9/10(same as the past, very responsive and wide viarity of moves that are very fluent, camera can get annoying at times which was no relevent in past inerations

SOUND-10/10(just amazing and with surround sound it sounds so gorey with the sound of blood coming out of the fleash or the blades ripping off someones head or the tearing of the the cyclops eye.

GRAPHIC-10/10(just spectacular how everything is so detailed and sharp and the life like blood makes it even better, the engine is top notch and this is what GOW needed to finally fullfill there vision.

FUN FACTOR/REPLAY VALUE-8.5/10(It is very entertaining but will get repetive at the end BUT will always keep you on your toes and not doing the same moves but still can get repetive since all brutal attacks are the same on all the same enemys. As for the replay value there is none other than going through the whole jouney again or just keep playing the challenges.

OVERALL-9/10(GREAT GAME it will give you at least 10 hours of brutal entertainment everything is top notch with a few minor overall issues that cant be changed that keep it from a 10 or a PERFECT game none the less pick it up and PLAY IT then sell it like me

Game of the Year for PS3

God of War series has been influential in video games in both the ps3 and xbox 360, heck microsoft even tried to copy it with Dantes Inferno!! Anyway, God of War III picks up where God of War II left off, with Kratos riding on the titan Gaia leading them up Mount Olympus to fight the corrupt Gods. The opening video of Zeus' thunderous voice telling the gamer that Olympus will prevail as the Gods such as Hermes, Hades, Poseidon all descend down the mountain to fight the titans. The gameplay right away is incredible, with so many visuals going on. Kratos is on Gaia whilst he fights the Undead and about 30 minutes into the game he fights a God. The detail in Kratos is groundbreaking and you can tell that the game developers pushed the PS3 to the limit with graphics engine. The game takes you from Gaia, to the Underworld, to Kronos, to Olympus and the environments are exquisite. If gamestop can rate it a perfect 10, then you know you're onto something.Read full review...

Brilliant Game

I just finished playing GOW3, and it is simply epic. Kratos has some amazing weapons, much more diverse and cool than in the last two games. Of course, the HD quality, makes everything look very good. There are times, when it seems like you're just repeating the same thing over and over (like when there are bunches of weak enemies attacking over and over), but then a massive boss will come in, and you'll be like "no way can I kill that thing" and Kratos proves you wrong. One word of warning, the M rating should be heeded. No one under 16 or 17 should play this game. It's got quite a few topless women and of course there is blood everywhere. There was one scene where you tear a titan's fingernail off, and while I was pushing circle repeatedly, I was thinking, please don't come off. Overall, a brilliant game, with an epic story, even more epic picture quality, and over the top chaos!Read full review...

expert players just for fun of it) and some of them are very hard.

god of war is epic like epic stories in Greece.
Story: for me was just like reading a great novel. one of the most important thing that makes you continuing playing god of war is the story of it.r>Game-play:the best part of the game was game-play.
1)the finishing thing that you done with your enemies and your combats with your swords or powers like riping them apart or stone them or.... make me felt that anger that kratos felt.
2)the using of bottoms in slow motion scenes(like defeating buses or..)were great idea for the game.
3)mixing the action with thinking (like completing the puzzle to get the nickles or take the prisoner up to the point and burn him to get the door open) was awesome and the difficulty of them was just right.
4)when you finishing the game you unlocked some challenges that you can do them to test yourself how good you are (for expert players just for fun of it) and some of them are very hard.
Sound: the music from the game was the ancient music we hear in operas or ancient music in Greece and it was suitable for gameplay.
At the end: maybe god of war is an action adventure game but when you play it you see alot of difference between god of war and other action adventure games that you played them before if you like action adventure games (like prince of persia) or not certainly you should buy god of war.Read full review...

Play it then collect it, this is a series you will want

This is a great game.Fun and fustrating in one package. There are several puzzles you must play through and you have to be able to use your head. Don't use your head and you will sit screaming at the game until you decide to either stop screaming and look up a cheat or stop screaming and actually use your head because you may be missing the smallest of details. (observed from watching my husband play it lol)

The story line throughout the game is very captivating and keeps getting interesting every time. From the first God Of War all the way to the third this game has made all people as gamers want for more after playing it.However unless
you collect games after you play them and put them on a stand and/or you like completing the game 100% then there really isn't any playing the game over again unless you want to replay the same story in different difficulties.

The game has great moves that you execute when fighting but can get repetitive unless you take the time to look and see all the moves you have earned and unlocked. The sound and graphics are very realistic and too gory for my taste but great for the game and to complete the atmosphere in the game.
SOME say it will take you about 10 hours to finish the game but it can actually take longer if you don't use cheats and actually play the game all the way through not knowing how to solve the riddles and other things in the game.

GREAT GAME! Kratos and characters look awesome.

Graphics are really good, the best of the franchise, It has several difficulty modes, the hardest is frustrating but fun as well. The extras are extended, entertaining and shows you a lot on what's involved on making a game this big.
It has "skins" for the character, so if you beat the game you can change the way Kratos looks, the thing is that some skins are not available unless you get the collector edition, or the preorder from amazon, gamestop or other different vendors. Overall the game is great, you will have fun playing this game, it will keep you playing for hours, even if you beat the game you will want to play on a different difficulty on complete the different challenges(opens when you beat the game).

Revealing ending to a great series

I have to say, in the interest of fairness, that I am biased. The God of War series contains my all-time favorite video games, so even if the final chapter had been less than worthy I would have enjoyed it. That said, the final chapter did not disappoint! New creatures, returning creatures, the ability to RIDE creatures, killing the entire Olympian race- what could be better? Well, how about a major change in our hero's outlook? I do not want to spoil the ending, but Kratos' actions at the end of the game came as a surprise to me, and made him very much 3-dimensional rather than just the flat tough guy character usually found in action/fighting games. Not that he was flat before . . . . There is much to love for those already fans of the games, including the obligatory sex scene (with none other than Aphrodite!), epic boss battles, and tons of blood. Some of the new items are outstanding, though at least one was seriously underutilized (you'll know it when you play). If you love GoW, you have to play this game. If you like GoW, you really should play this game. If you don't care about GoW, why are you reading this? Great game, superb graphics, wonderful voice cast (Kevin Sorbo voices Hercules, fittingly)- my vote for Game of the Year, if not the decade!Read full review...
