Great!

This is another victim of my lack of access to the proper internet access for so long do to a divorce. I'm finally got my feet back under me so I'm simply trying to play catch up on all this stuff. Please forgive me. There wasn't much I could do about it.

The Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (Beach Boys)

I had this album on cassette at one time and misplaced it. Since now everything is CD, I decided to look on E-bay and sure enough there it was.
Having grown up in the 60's with doses of the Beatles and Stones, I always found it refreshing to listen to the harmony of the Beach Boys! And all of these songs evoke some kind of memory.
I have read Beach Boys biographies and especially remember a temporarily ousted Dennis Wilson walked in on a recording session of "God Only Knows" and was told by one studio employee, "here's another cheesy song by the Beach Boys." Since blood usually is thicker than water, Dennis responded: "What are you talking about,that's the best damn song they have ever come out with"!
Anyway, that song is my favorite, but not any on that album are bad!

Simpler days

During the Beach Boys heyday, I was more interested in their edgier contemporaries...The Byrds, Sound Machine, etc. However, I needed the brilliant compositions that came from Brian Wilson at the tail end of their career. This CD does the deed!

The earlier cuts evoke memories of a bunch of skinny kids, hanging out at Fatburger, bragging about their cars and girlfriends. A pleasant stroll down memory lane. Read full review...

The Beach Boys songs are fun and lively,and clean

I love it because it takes me back to a time when I had nothing to worry over,
except what I was going to wear to school the next day. "60's" It takes me to the sun of calif. of Frankie , Fabian, Kookie, Dick Clark American Bandstand.

Someone took all my CD collection out of my car. I was going to replace them , but whe I saw the prices of most I couldn't afford to. Even used in the stores were to costly. Someone mention Try Ebay, and here I am. I'm so happy I did.

On a raining cold day, I put in the Beach boys driving down the road. Brings back so many memories. All good! Lying on the beach at Newport. Nothing like it. Now and the state of Idaho. And we all know why. I really miss the beautiful beaches.Read full review...

Great Beach Boys Hits Compilation except for 2 songs...

I bought this CD because it was at a low price, and has 20 of the Beach Boys hits, including "Kokomo".
But, even though I like this CD, I was a little disappointed in 2 of the songs - "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Help, Me Rhonda".
"Fun, Fun, Fun" was shortened at the end, and "Help, Me Rhonda" wasn't the version I heard on the radio back in 1965. It seems to be a different take of the song. But, at least it's not a re-record version - I hate most re-records.
