Arrived just in time for Christmas!

Editorial Review:
Season 5 is a pivotal one for the riveting Grey's Anatomy. The doctors on staff at Seattle Grace Hospital bloom and show new layers, the drama meets and exceeds that of previous seasons, and the show marks an important milestone--its 100th episode--with developments that, as with all the great Grey's episodes, brim with belly laughs and moving tears.
The season gets off to a slow start, with perhaps a bit more relationship angst than even diehard fans would prefer. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek "McDreamy" (Patrick Dempsey) start out with the familiar push-pull of their love affair--but a resolution, at last, is in their future. Callie (the excellent, and newly glamorous, Sara Ramirez) wrestles with her sexual orientation. Cristina (Sandra Oh, never better) is still picking up the pieces from her ruined engagement to the departed Burke (Isaiah Washington). To help her, or maybe to throw her for another loop, the series introduces the gruff, macho military doc, Owen (one of TV's sexiest hunks, Kevin McKidd).

Yet series creator and still active writer Shonda Rhimes unveils story arcs about midway through the season which have the surgeons' operating room dramas intersecting with the characters' private lives--with waves of heartbreaking results. Fans may take issue with "Dead Denny" (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his endless visitations--complete with sex--with Izzie (Katherine Heigl)--but as the season builds, Izzie's mystery illness, and her deep love for Alex (Justin Chambers) are treated with delicacy and respect, and Denny's character both reacts and ultimately supports. There's a wedding--a fairy-tale one--celebrating the show's 100th episode, and the love of the characters, and the pain they've overcome to get there--are equal parts of the very human, very lovely, result. The season finale is among the show's best ever, with the fate of two beloved characters, George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie, left unknown and laden with sorrow.

The set's extras are a treat, including a rich 20-minute feature on the filming of the 100th episode. Oh exclaims of the gorgeous wedding cinematography, "I hope I'm lit like this for the rest of my life!" Fans will love hearing how scenes are edited, how characters are developed, and other juicy tidbits from Rhimes and her very talented crew. --A.T. Hurley

One of my favorite seasons.

Purchased this product because (duh) I like Grey's Anatomy and wanted all of the seasons.

Season 5 is personally one of my favorite seasons. You get to see character's come back from previous seasons. You get to see character's who recently got together get closer and deepen their relationships. And also, I really enjoyed the bonus features that came with this set. Season finale was also really good in my opinion.

Postivies: It's Grey's Anatomy! Really good plot lines. Loved the characters that showed up in it from past seasons. Lots of drama. Deepening of relationships between characters. Really good bonus features.

Not So Positives: Some things were dragged out a little longer than I personally felt necessary.

Starts slow, stick with it. Best season of series,

I decided to buy the series because I literally ran into Katherine Heigle and her husband while she was shopping for baby clothes in LA. At the time no one knew sh was adopting. She was so beautiful and so gracious I decided to buy the series. Also, I am a huge fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
I agree that the series started very very slowly and I actually started getting depressed watching it. But about 5 episodes in..(yes, it did take that long honestly) I couldnt stop watching it.It is probably the best season of the series.
Also, the relationship between Christina and Own Hunt is so complicated and touching. The actor who plays Hunt (sorry name escapes me) also plays Lucius Vorenus in the HBO series Rome. He is terrific!

Best season of the series. Get it.

Grey's Anatomy All Seasons!!!

This is perhaps the most awesome Season series ever!!!! With it's popularity it is now in it's seventh year! The same amount of years "Friends" aired on Fox. ABC, you finally got one right! So much more intense than ER, a sit on the edge of my seat ending to every finale', and every year gets better and better! This series has the potential of being the longest running series ever!!!! Go ahead, get addicted! Season five actually creates a spin off, the love child "Private Practice" which is captivating still has no comparison to Grey's Anatomy. Everyone should at least watch the first season to decide!Read full review...

AN EXCELLENT SERIES-MUST HAVE!!!!

GREYS ANATOMY, LIKE THE CLOSER, IS A MUST HAVE EACH SEASON. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT, DRAMA, PEYTON PLACE THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING NEXT. I SAW A PREVIEW OF GREY'S/PRIVATE PRACTICE RUN OVER PLANNED FOR JANUARY THAT IS A (HEADS UP) MUST SEE, AS IT APPEARS, SOMETHING IS GONNA HAPPEN TO LEXIE & MARK'S BABY. NOW MARK IS MC STEAMY WHO HAD THE AFFAIR WITH MC DREAMY'S WIFE WHICH CAUSED THE MC DREAMY'S TO DIVORCE & WHO DOES MC STEAMY CALL TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT THE ONE & ONLY X-MRS MC STEAMY!! THIS WILL PROBABLY BE THE CLIMAX OF THE END OF THIS SEASON (MY OWN OPINION). AFTER ALL THEY HAD US HANGING ON A LIMB LAST SEASON WITH GEORGE & IZZY CODING THE ENTIRE SUMMER TIL THIS NEXT SEASON STARTED!!

IF YOU DON'T WATCH THE CLOSER, YOU GOTTA START. IT IS LIKE GREY'S. BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY AS YOU NEVER KNOW HOW BRENDA WILL CLOSE HER CASE, BUT SHE ALWAYS DOES EVEN IF SHE HAS TO USE HER FBI EMPLOYED HUSBAND!!!!

BOTH ARE EXCELLENT!!!!!

Grey's Anatomy

GREY'S ANATOMY is a quick-witted medical drama that explores the personal and professional relationships of the doctors at a Seattle hospital. After an explosive fourth season that saw the star interns--Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and Alex (Justin Chambers)--begin their grueling careers as residents, the hit series launched its fifth year with even more drama: Cristina is stabbed (by an icicle) just steps from the hospital; Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are officially "on" again; and Izzy fantasizes about being reunited with her dead soulmate. And that's just the season premiere! This collection includes every episode of the 2008-09 season and is packed with the smart, nuanced storytelling that made GREY'S ANATOMY a runaway hit.Read full review...

Looked good until I watched the DVDs

I was very happy with the purchase and got it quickly, they appeared to be brand new as I said in the feedback, BUT these DVDs are obviously burned. Well looking burned and the box wrapped in plastic to appear to be new. But I'm trying to watch the DVD's and there is a florescent haze flickering across the screen and highlighting the faces, eyes and hair of all the people. VERY POOR quality of picture. I am very unhappy with my purchase and did not see anything about the DVDs being burned. I can still see the picture and sound quality is fine. But the green and blue flickering across the screen is annoying to say the least. Not what I wanted to spend $26.00 on!Read full review...
