2018 TaxCut Failed to Handle 1099R Properly Causing Huge Tax Bill & Penalties

I have been using TaxCut for years so I know how it works. On my 2018 return, my 1099R information was entered correctly in the 1099R worksheet with an amount in the 2a box showing a taxable portion of a death benefit distribution but the software never transferred this amount to Form 1040 line 4b so that it would be included in my overall taxable income calculation. The IRS of course saw this as income not being declared and because it was a large enough amount it triggered a "Substantial tax understatement penalty" along with a significant interest penalty. The TaxCut software never caught this error when it did its error review check either. This is all on H&R Block. Let's see if their guarantee to cover these type errors comes true. Of course, it's on me for all of the time I have lost dealing with this.

I rated this product one star because this software should be mature enough to NOT make this type of mistake and then NOT find it during the error checking routine. I don't know if I can trust this product again.Read full review...
