picture is great sound is very low! but worth the $40 I paid for it.

-The picture is great but the sound is very low but it does have sound just very low. I have another just like it that has great sound I swopped the cords as this one came without a sound cord only the VGA cord to see if the sound worked, I'm not too unhappy with it as I bought it for $40 glad it wasn't more. so I'll keep it.Read full review...

BETTER IF NEWER, BUT PRICE PAID FOR CANNOT COMPLAIN

My previous experience with this particular model of monitor was very enjoyable It had a crisp, sharp image and provided me over two years of enjoyable use. This replacement monitor although the exact same model does not have as sharp and clear an image and there is some water spot damage inside the monitor display. I am not certain whether that can be remedied, but as I did not pay that much for this monitor, I suppose that is to be expected. The one plus is that it came with the original monitor stand, which sits at just the perfect angle for viewing. For the money I paid ($12.00 plus shipping) this monitor is well worth the price, especially if it lasts two or more years.Read full review...

I wouldn't pay over $90 for this monitor

I have owned this monitor, and used it on a daily basis for nearly 2 years. First, I will say that the speakers are absolute crap, so plan on buying externals. The monitor has settings pre-loaded on it for video, game, photo, and text, as well as the ability to use custom settings. I have read a lot of reviews on other sites saying this monitor is bad with text, I think those people didn't know how to adjust their settings, because text on this monitor is goregous. Photos and graphics are a little above average. Videos and games leave something to be desired.

MINECRAFT PLAYERS: the game mode is excellent for helping you see in dark mines when you run out of torches. XD

This monitor was given to me, brand new still in the box. Now, after almost 2 years, I'm starting to see vertical lines running through it when I have dark backgrounds. I know this is a sign that this monitor is on it's last legs.

Were I purchasing this monitor, I would not spend more than $90 on it. You can get far superior equipment now-a-days for $99.

Also, a final note, the cord on this monitor is pretty short. I have it setting on my desk, and the tower is under my desk. The monitor can barely be pulled forward a few inches. Also, the connection is very lose on it, as one of the screws that holds the cable in doesn't tighten all the way, but this could be a problem that is isolated to just my unit.

HP consumer line monitor provides moderate quality.

First and foremost, if you can get this monitor cheap, say for $150 or less, then don't hesitate to buy it. Any price higher, you might consider options. Connectivity and the built in speakers were not a choice for me when I purchase this monitor. I needed an auxiliary monitor when editing photos so it was not to be a main monitor. However, out of the box, the monitor NEEDS calibration. Colors are off, which is to be expected from a consumer grade monitor. However, the 2408h series monitors have an incredible color gamut that I was hoping to find in the 1907h monitors. But these two monitors are vastly different. If color gamut is not an issue, then this monitor provides a good resolution (although it could be better), crisp display properties, and bright backlighting. Speakers sound like laptop speakers and are nothing to be impressed by, unless you really want to save space on the desk. Oh, and the stand that comes with the monitor is not even close to what the higher end monitors can do. No swivel, no height adjustment, no portrait mode, just a tilt, that's it. I could probably find better 19" monitors from other brands and mix it with my hp main monitor. But I don't like the Frankenstein look on a desktop. The clean and sexy look of the hp monitors does well for me.Read full review...

Great for the price

Pros: good picture, glossy, affordable

Cons: flimsy and limited usefullness of stand, 1 year warranty, ymmv quality, no DVI cable

Summary: I had it for a week. The glossy screen and frame are nice. The picture clear and color are accurate and vivid. Backlight bleeding or leaking is minimal and barely noticeable with black background. Good value for the money
What I really don't like is the stand design. The base has some small soft fabric cushions underneath that makes the whole monitor less stable than it should. Also, due to manufacturing defect, the monitor might not be perfectly horizontal and you can't do anything about it since the stand only lets you tilt the panel.
Also, the HP only backs this product with a 1-year warranty while other companies give 3 years. This might say something about the quality over the long run.
In fact, the first one I got was very bad: the backlight bleeding was horrible, color reproduction was non-uniform and the control buttons felt like they were going to fall off by any minute. I returned it and got a new one that is far better in all aspects.

No real issues. Good picture quality and options.

Good quality and good value. Able to use for a variety of viewing activities. Internet, video, games, and office work looks adequate on this flat monitor. Nice footprint and monitor stand for a 19". Buttons are easy to figure out and power button stays illuminated when in sleep mode. Not issues yet and have owned for over 2 years.Read full review...

A classy monitor with great quality

I've used this monitor for about a month and it has a perfect picture, very classy looking and works great. I have seen one of these monitors that would go blank after a short while, but that did not keep me from purchasing one for myself. Knowing there is a problem with it going blank, I still wanted this monitor and if you can get one under $100.00 you have gotten a steal. Based off of my short experience I would highly recommend this monitor.

I bought this computer after someone offered to sell me one and after using it a couple of days, I found that it would go blank after being on for about an hour. In spite of this I still like the features of it enough to buy another one thinking that perhaps the first one was a lemon. If the price is right I would say take a chance on a great product with great features.

Perfect Monitor, Perfect Price

The w1907 the nicest monitor you can get for under two hundred. My HP came with one of these and i just ordered another one for dual flat panels. Some Things to consider:

definition: i give it a 8.5 to 9 out of 10. It has 1440x900 res. It can show up to 70 frames per second, again nearly the best you can get. This monitor has better picture resolution than nearly every flat panel TV under 40 inches or so.

color: 10 out of 10. Bright beautiful and accurate color with just a little fiddling with the settings,

Adjustments: 7.5 out of 10. It has mounts on the back for a wall mounted panel, viewing angle is nearly 180 degrees, no glare from the coating. The only thing I didn't like was a lack of height adjustment. You can tilt it, but you can't move the panel up and down.

Sound: 2 out of 10. This is the only thing you can complain about with this monitor. The speakers are the worst sounding I've heard. But most wouldn't use the built in speakers and therefore wouldn't care. They sound like headphones. Like I said, a fact of little importance as the monitors job is video, not sound.

Connectivity: 9 out of 10. It has standard VGA for nearly every computer built since I've been alive. It also has DVI, a signal that is able to relay true high definition picture. It's kind of like HDMI, but it only carries video signals, no audio.

Style: 10 out of 10. Gloss black on faux-brushed aluminum. Keep the black plastic clean as it tends to get smudges on it easily. Understated, clean. It's engergy star compliant, if that matters to you.

They also make a w2007, a 20 incher with 100 or so more lines of resolution. I've seen them side by side and there's not much difference. They make a w2207, which is visibly larger and clearer, has HDMI jack and has full 2500x1440 resolution. Its enormous and has two USB ports on the side. Finally the w2407, big enough to crush an office desk. At somewhere around 4 to 5 hundred, its functionality is eclipsed by its price tag.

If you can get an extended warranty, do it!!!! They do have a tendency to get dead pixels. HP support won't part with a new one under warranty without some tough talk. I'm told in the neighborhood of one in 200 will get one within a year. Don't be the one out of 200. Use the money you'd save getting the 1907 and buy the warranty.

I've had this monitor for just about one year now and I'm adding another one for more "work" space. It's wonderful and for under 200 bucks, they're price is just right.

price to performance can't be beat! less than great speaker sound

the second of my now matching pair of HP w1907's though i MUST say this newer one is a good bit better in terms of color performance. my other hp w1907 has ove 12,000 hours on it and it shows. whites are MUCH more white and bright on the new display with much lower hours "around 2,000" so over time keep in mind the backlight and "whites" may fade to a cyan tan tone. i tried tweaking settings but to no real avail. but overall the screen itself is EXCELLENT. they're mildly good for gaming 60hz if you dont mind around 720P (1440x900) widescreen. only thing i dislike is the glossed TFT LCD since it shows reflections at certain angles. for a 2008 monitor in nearly 2015... its still a great choice if the price is right. 50-60$ for one of these bad boys is a great deal for price to performance. the speakers are OK they are clear but not at all "punchy" they have a slimline sound with little no no bass reproduction. i run two of these screens and both together's speakers at once is a little more impressive but completely lack the quality reflex that my vizio screen can do, as well as terms of overall loudness and quality. don't expect much from the HP monitors in that field.Read full review...

sleek black beauty

I bought this monitor because I have an HP multimedia computer, and I wanted to use my old monitor on our kids computer.
The HP monitor matches with my computer seemlessly. The gloss black and brushed aluminum is pleasing to look at. It has plenty of adjustments for brightness, contrast, etc so that it can be dialed in for anyones eyes. The speakers are adequate, nothing more. The picture is sharp.Read full review...
