A surprisingly enjoyable read

I read this for book group and it was highly recommended.

It is a fictionalised version of the author's grandmother's early life of hardship in America taken from her recollections of her grandmother's tales. People nowadays would not cope with such a life, but she just got on with it.

There was nothing I did not like about this book. It was easy to read and a fascinating subject.

I am looking forward to reading the sequel about her mother's life, The Glass Castle.
