Vintage barbie clothing is well made and seams are lined with lace to keep the material flat and from fraying. Unfortunately, the years take a toll on the satin in these wedding dresses. The fabric does fray and discolor. It is almost impossible to find them white and intact if they have been played with. They need laundering, mending, and pressing and although this is not recommended by collectors, it is necessary. They are perfect as display pieces, but even if they are to be put in cellophane and stored, the fabric needs to be freshened. The soiling will cause further deterioration.
