Two great stories for one price.

This set is amazing if your a fan of wrestling.
Wrestling with shadows tells the true story of what happened at the 1997 Survivor Series, when boss Vince McMahon , afraid Bret Hart was going to leave WWF (Now officially called WWE) for rival WCW while holding the belt. Bret had creative control over his loosing the belt and had a verbal agreement with Vince that he would drop it in America following Survivor Series. He didn't want to lose at Suvivor Series 97 because it took place in Montreal, Canada. Bret Hart had become a country wide hero and he didn't want to disappoint his countries' fans. He was more than willing to lose it later when they had a show in America, but Vince was convinced he would leave the company and show up on WCW television(his contract was up and WCW had hired him but allowed him to finish his duties in WWF.) SO Vince set up Bret, with the help of Shawn Michaels and referee Hebner. This became known in Wrestling as the Montréal Screwjob.

A captivating story and documentary

Disk 2 covers the tragic death of Bret Hart's brother Owen Hart. Owen Hart life was ended after a fall from the rafters into the ring. He was given a special entrance by WWF creative staff on a Pay-per-View for his new character (The BLUE BLAZER). He was supposed to be lowered to the ring on a cable, but the stunt company that was hired to oversee the stunt used a Quick-release latch that malfunctioned and Owen Hart free fell approximately 100 feet to the ring. He was Immediately limp and reports later state he died on impact.
There was alot of blame thrown around by many parties concerning who was ultimately responsible. Was it WWE for having him copy a stunt done by STING a wrestler from rival WCW? Was it the Stunt Coordinator? Was Owen forced to do this stunt or was he a willing participant? The situation is discussed on this disk.

One thing to note is that following the PPV where Owen Hart died, WWF was Ultimately criticized for continuing the show and not Stopping it Like would be done in other sports type situations. WWF's Response was that Owen would have wanted the show to continue because he lived to Entertain the fans.

BE FORWARNED: this set will always come on a DVD-R as the documentary company who did both films was very low budget. They couldn't afford mass distrubution on regular DVD's.

The best there is...

Cliché review title aside, this is simply one of the best documentaries you'll even see. A (then) rare inside view inside the colorful world of professional wrestling, with a man who wants to be a hero in a place where heroes don't exist anymore. And to top it off, they had the luck (or the bad luck) to film one of the most infamous unscripted wrestling incident, the Montréal Screwjob, as it happened. As Bret was leaving for the rival company after his boss, Vince McMahon, told him his contract wouldn't go through, he got screwed for the championship belt to ensure he wouldn't show up in WCW with the prized title, despite Hart assuring he would never do so. Highly reccomended.Read full review...

Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows

I was a really big WWE fan when this came out and it really changed my perception of Vince McMahon. Still a fan of classic wrestling but really like to see the documentaries with this kinda of info.
