The game is a bit over the average. Great Campaign + Great Multiplayer! :)

This game is absolutely astonishing! Here is a quick summary of what I think of the game so far.

Graphics - 3/5:
"2007 anyone? Because that is where the graphics of this game come from. The guns look kinda pretty and some environments have stunning texture but the occasional rendering failure and outdated model systems are not really striking and kind of outdated."

Gameplay - 5/5:
The gameplay is the best piece of the game. The gameplay involves control and AI strength. Everything matches together in great chemistry and the game works the way it should.

Storyline - 5/5:
The story line could never be better! It follows Korean war against the United States Americans where the KPA (Korean People's Army) are killing civilians and as a former USMC pilot you must fight with freedom fighter brothers and sisters to survive.

Sound - 3/5:
The sounds were nothing special and undoubtfully forgetable. Nothing seemed to impress me and things seems to be average as other FPS games of the time. Grenades and shooting didn't have the destinctive pleasurable sound effect that gave the game definition. Although, I will not say the game lacked good sound, everything matched and was on time, and the sound was there!

Multiplayer - 5/5:
Multiplayer can never get better in my opinion. There are 32-player battles that take place all the time. The dedicated servers almost never lag and you will find the unique "Battle-point" system very useful and exciting. Just like in most FPS games there is a limitable loadout customization, although the XP ranking up system is extremely fun and makes the game worth it. The ranks go higher than every Call of Duty title, so there is no finishing your leveling early!
--------------------------------------------------------------
OVERALL RATING: 4.2/5 = Great Game (Worth the money!)

I still play it, just not all night.

This came complete with all your typical first person shooter features, however the story line is what helps set it apart. Combat right here in the USA. The graphics are very sharp, not the best but sharp. Looks a little better than Rainbow 6 Vegas. I play in 1080p. The sound effects were very good too. The enviroment is explosive, but not destructible. The game forces you on a specific path and its narrow to get through campaign. The weapons are fairly limited, as is the ammunition, with some all time favorites in every category. You dont often have options on what you will use during game as weapons, most the time you have to get better off the ground. The game seem to lack alot of depth. Its still great to play . The AI are fast to kill and the campaign is a challenge.
The online is face paced and fun. You level up pretty fast, with in game upgrades you can get with battle points earned during the round. They add up fast too. All the boards look like average american town places. It is very strange and fun.
This is worth a look at twenty or less. I would put Vegas 2 as a better game, but this rate with Vegas one due to story and fresh boards.

If Call of Duty and Battlefield had a baby...

This would be the lovechild of two of the best FPS franchises to date. I'll briefly explain how it is similar (in good and bad ways) to both games.

Call of Duty: First and foremost, the control scheme is practically identical to Call of Duty. The only exception I can think of at the moment is the D-Pad, which is used primarily for buying items. Sprint is unlimited in this game, but I find it to be a good thing, as the maps are much bigger than CODs. There is also a high amount of customization in Homefront, though not quite as much as COD. On a final similarity, you start with a few premade classes that let you preview weapons, attachments, and "killstreak" items that are unlocked later as you level up via online play.

Battlefield: This game shares a few more similarities with Battlefield. As previously mentioned, the maps are pretty big, and comparable to maps from Bad Company. The graphics are a little jerkier than COD, as Battlefield's graphics were. There is no more bullet drop, however. So if you're a longtime Battlefield fan, it may take you a while to learn to aim directly with a sniper rifle again. Also previously mentioned, there are quite a few vehicles again. From RC recon/tank/helicopters, to real helicopters/tanks/armored trucks, there's enough variation to keep things interesting. One thing I'd like to complain about is that jets seem to keep getting left out of these games, since Battlefield 2. Why?!

Instead of killstreaks, you are rewarded with points for every assist and kill you obtain. You are also awarded bonus points for things like melee kills, vehicle kills, revenge, etc. You spend these points to buy everything from rocket launchers, to drones (more similar to Battlefield's RC vehicles than COD's) and helicopters. You can even choose to create armored transports and tanks when you spawn, or spawn as a gunner in an available vehicle piloted by an ally.

There are only two main gametypes: Ground Control, and Team Deathmatch. In Ground Control, your team attempts to capture and hold three objectives, while your opponents are competing for control of the same objectives. Team Deathmatch is pretty self-explanatory. These gametypes are furthered by "Commander" variations of each. The gametypes are played the same, with one exception: Everyone starts with no class bonuses (such as faster reloading, etc). Instead, bonuses are rewarded based on killstreaks. So if you kill 3 people in a row, for example, you gain a bonus until you die. If you kill a few more in a row, you get a second bonus. This continues until you've received 5 bonuses. However, with each bonus you receive, you also receive a star. This star is your "Threat Level", and with each threat level, a few of your opponents are given a bounty on you. What this means is they are given the general location you are in, and bonus cash if they manage to take you out. Keep in mind that you have your bonuses to help keep you alive though. Overall, an entertaining sub-type.

Unlike Battlefield, you can't spawn at captured bases. Instead, spawning consists of choosing a class, then getting dropped on one side of the objectives while your opponents are spawned on the opposite side. One good thing about spawning is you receive a temporary aerial view, complete with everyones name being shown, to give you an idea of where to go. This happens for a few seconds until you drop to ground level, and take control of your character.

Great Game for Multi-player onl line shooter. Bad game for Single player.

Overall the game I would consider just ok. It depends on your preference in 1st person shooter games.

The game graphics are ok but not as good as Battlefield Bad Company 2. They are better than some of the older Call of duty games, but I think they lacked some of the clarity or detail.

The Single Player portion is the worse part of the game. The story line is very cheesy and weak. The characters are corny and choppy in their movements and you have to get permission to climb ladders instead of smoothly going up them.

The Best part of the Game is the Multiplayer. I believe most people play it for this part. It flows better and interaction is better. The down side to it would be their servers crash and have to be reset. The game has a nice weapons selection and graphics for they are good. The bad on the weapons is the reality of the caliburs. I dont think they have the right number of hits to kill with certain weapons. The intervention sniper rifle should be a 1 shot kill not a two hit kill. some of the smaller weapons can still kill across the map.

Comparing to others shooter games out there I would squarely put it between Call of Duty Modern warfare and Battlefield Bad Company 2. It has feature from both that make it enjoyable.

Cool game!

This is a really cool game to play, it does have good graphics, however, it is kind of repetitive at times, but overall, it's fun, and has pretty good graphics!

I do not regret having bought the game ...guaranteed fun...

Homefront is not considered a game FPS, because you see the character on screen. Would be for a SPS or TPS ... But the action is intense ... You can not stop playing when it starts ... Your character interacts with every weapon in its path and even some cars as combat drones .. . the fun is guaranteed ... I did not find the game to download DLC, but it's not a problem ... the definition of the characters and scenery are good. The world is not open, you follow a well defined path ... Run along with their companions or you lose the fun largely because in this game the bots shoot at everything that lies ahead. Difrente other games, the bots do not stand around watching you die ... They run up the opponent ... The fun is guaranteedRead full review...

Xbox360 Homefront Video Game

I love the multiplayer gameplay of this game, although some of the shots that are fired and get you killed most likely will come from across the map... The graphics aren't all that, but I didn't expect them to be anyway. The vehicles and special weapons in this game are extremely hard to get as they cost so much and in the beginning and you must work your way up to getting them (battle points are hard to get when you often get killed from impossibly far distances with certain weapons). As for the single player, the story is very good so far and really makes you think about how the oil deprived future could possible be like. I decided to buy this because Kaos Studios was involved in the making of this game and I liked their previous game, Frontlines: Fuel of Way (which had a similar story of oil deprived future). Anyway, I'd give this game a 3.5/5 for the great story, while I had hoped for better designed maps and vehicle battles.Read full review...

Lacking in Luster

This game definitely overhyped itself. I felt the basic storyline was the only part of the game that I felt was well done. The campaign is short and doesn't resolve anything. The campaign should of had a flashback mission to get the beginning started off right.

Campaign
---spoiler alert---
The campaign ends with you helping the U.S. army take back the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm thinking "great, we have a bridge, not sure how that is supposed to kick the Koreans out of America." There isn't much of an ending. Along with that, there are obvious "walls" that shouldn't be there. For instance, if your ahead of your team and they have to go first, you hit an invisible wall until they get through. It could have been put together a lot more smoothly imo. It seems to me that the game was rushed into production without giving much attention to the campaign.

Multiplayer
Since this game is advertised as being competitive with the Call of Duty (take your pick which one) multiplayer, I'm going to tell you right now I didn't find it even close to Call of Duty. First of all, you have to have a battle code, which means you better be sure that if you buy it used, you get that code or you can kiss $10 good-bye. About the multiplayer itself, I found it very difficult to engage anyone from long distance. The sight didn't seem to line up with the shot.

I did like the "killstreak" system. I also enjoyed the ability to get and use tanks in the game. If your a gearhead and all you want to do is use a tank and don't care about anything but multiplayer, this is probably a good game for you. If your all about story, don't buy this. You will like the campaign (if you can follow it), but will hate the abrupt ending.

All in all, not a fan of this game.

Homefront is a solid first person shooter, Very Cool.

Homefront has a very interesting concept, of the United States being occupied. The reactions of the many types of characters is very interesting. The cutscenes gave an indepth view of why and how, the takeover had began. I thought the cutscenes enriched the story on campaign, and the fighting had a purpose. I enjoyed finding the newspapers, and read the files, as it was even more information about what was transpiring in the game, as you advanced through the levels. The campaign is short, but I enjoyed playing it, and I really got into it.Read full review...

It is alright

as far as PC/console games go this is about on par for a first person shooter. and although most people would reference Call of Duty for this it is more accurately Battlefield 2 or Bad Company 2 with futuristic feel and kill streak rewards. The game is good and developer is trying to fix matchmaking problems as fast as they can, but the actual story game play is boring for me to say the least. Common enemy swarms where your only defense is chest high walls everywhere. Not bad but worth more in the 35 dollar range untill they fix the matchmaking. If you dont play online you might as well skip it.Read full review...
