A great series

Homicide: Life on the Street was a great show. It has to be considered one of the shows that broke with convention about what made great television, and blazed the trail followed by other great cop series like The Shield and The Wire. The show is well written, and the characters are gritty and real to life. The lines between good and evil, and good guys and bad guys sometimes get blurred in the show. This makes it much more realistic than some of the idealistic cop shows of the past. (Dragnet, Adam-12, etc) This is a great series. Get all the seasons. Get comfortable, and watch them all in order. Homicide: LIfe on the Street- The Complete Season 6

This series is set in Baltimore and is the preceder of the Law & Order TV series, with some of the same cast members. The episodes are written with edginess, and the recurring main characters are well written, especially the characterizations. This season (#6)also features the amazing Michelle Forbes as the forensic physician (performs autopsies on many dead bodies), and one episode features another great actress, Carol Kane, as the ex-wife of one of the detectives.Read full review...

Homicide - Life on the Street

I wound up buying the whole series after sampling one season (3). This is great drama, glad in a way that I missed it when it was on TV. Characters are sympathetic and fleshed out - in terms of comedy, drama and freshness this is on a par with the Sopranos.
Easy to see the genesis of The Wire in the series, all the elements are there, including setting, writers, producers and actors.
Andre Braugher is missed in Season 7, it is a tribute to the skills of the ensemble that by the 3rd disc you do not miss him.
A must see, streets ahead of mist of the offerings in crime drama of the time.Read full review...

I used to like this television series, when people were watching Hill Street Blues, and N. Y. P. D. Blue, I was watching Homicide, and now owning the series is great. The cast of characters are awesome, what a great line up, and the story lines were, and are still fresh, they kept me on the edge of my seat again.
