Great book for owners of pups or dogs
I’ve heard about the Monks of New Skete for years, and when I got my dog, I acquired this book. It has been everything I hope. Easy to understand and implement. We are working on leash training and seeing some success as we practice daily. It’s taking time but worth it.Read full review...

Book Purchase
Strange authors/title but very well written for those who want to know more about training dogs. An easy read, the book is full of not so well known dog behavior, correction drills and what it takes to make your dog your best friend. The author takes you through the developmental stages to adulthood, providing key training techniques that identify and promote positive behavior. Worth the read for dog owners.Read full review...

Dated
Be Aware this book is almost 50 years old.
The first several chapters deal with the history of the religous order .
I was expecting a more 'how to' guide.

Please buy. Great book!
Would recommend the book. Bought both the later edition and the 1974 publication. Based on dog psychology. Easy to follow and understand. I have a 4 month rottweiller cross and had a lot of dominance problems with her.Read full review...
Great book!
We have loved the book so far. Lots of different opinions about dog training. We especially loved the discipline part. They do a great job of discussing the forms that best suit dogs and communicate displeasure most effectively rather than just what seems natural for us humans! Great book, I would recommend it to anyone, especially for German Shepherds.Read full review...
Great Book
Even though this is an older book, it has alot of great points. It is easy to read and follow. The Monks really know how to handle dogs! They are calm and easy with their dogs and give lots of alternative suggestions on how to handle your dog.Read full review...
