Although some of the training techniques may not necessarily work for every situation, if nothing else you will gain incredible insight into how the dog mind works. I keep buying this and giving it to friends who adopt new rescues, just to get them off on the right foot. Taught me things that I have definitely done wrong in the past and how to do them right from here on out. Even though the Monks raise German Shepherds their books are for training dogs of all breeds, and they give examples of such. This is the second book by the Monks of New Skete I have read and I can highly recommend both books! For those of us who cannot afford obedience classes for our dog, this book is a practical guide in helping us understand how to work with our canine friend.
