Great Kids Movie

From Dreamworks entertainment comes this animated feature film about a boy who is not like the other kids and becomes friends with a dragon while all the other kids are learning to kill dragons.
r>The movie is just long enough to keep your attention through the entire film. There is not much violence and what there is, is quite toned down as to actually be funny at times.

This is a great movie that will teach kids of all ages that there are alternatives to violence being the only answer to life's problems.

Actors and their voice characters are: Jay Baruchel, Hiccup; Gerard Butler, Stoick; Craig Ferguson, Gobber; America Ferrera, Astrid; Jonah Hill, Snotlout; Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Fishlegs; T.J. Miller, Tuffnut; Kristen Wiig, Ruffnut; Robin Atkin Downes, Ack; Philip McGrade, Starkard; Kieron Elliott, Hoark the Haggard; Ashley Jensen, Phlegma the Fierce;

The movie should be enjoyed by anyone who watches it, especially if they can watch it with their kids.

Highly recommended children's movie.Read full review...

Family Fun, Cool Dragons - all in one!

This is just a super good movie for kids from 1 to 92. I'm middle-aged, and I loved it! Toothless, the star dragon of the movie, reminds me for the world of my cat Charlie. What a charmer! Boy, can the guy fly! Older people who would never darken the theater door for a CGI "cartoon" like this will change their minds when they see this one. My husband was intrigued, and he is not intrigued by much along this vein. Out of my collection, this is one of my all-time favs. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good time and predict it will become a favorite of those who own a copy of the DVD. Try it on for size.Read full review...

Awesome Movie, Not what I expected!!

I though this movie was going to be totally a waste of my time, but the kids wanted to see and boy was I wrong. I totally fell in love with this movie. It's absolutely a fantastic movie.
I am very picky and nit picker at things that should not be in a movie but you will not find that in this movie. This is a really good movie for the family. My husband, Children and I enjoyed it as much at the theater that I bought it right away on blu ray. It has a good story line and teaches you that there's a better way than violence to accomplish what you need. The story line is fantastic and you will be engaged with the movie the entire time. Totally Awesome one of 2010's best animated moviesRead full review...

A family movie with real depth

A movie with real depth; although the allegories to current politics and societal issues are obvious, it's great that such complex themes can be explored in a family movie.

How to Train Your Dragon is all at aonce an allegory for realizing that we have more in common with our enemies than we know (Hiccup and Toothless are both injured in the same spot), working together with our enemies rather than fighting them allows us both to "fly" and achieve more than we are individually able (while both crippled, only together are Hiccup and Toothless able to fly), coming out and realizing one does not fit with traditional ideas of masculinity...it's sad that such amazing messages will completely fly over the head of literalists in the same way amazing messages of certain holy books are missed by literalists and fundamentalists.Read full review...

Lots of wonderful details.

At one level, this concerns two members of warring species who find they can help each other. At another level, it's lots of fun.

How to train your dragon

Excellent movie IMHO, I thought it was going to be just another kids flick but was holding out hope for some old Shrek-like humor. Well there was a good bit of humor, but also a decent story to go along with. If you are an overprotective parent you may want to stay away from this and teach your kids to knit instead as there is some (oh the horror) violence, but it's actually humorous most of the time.

Give this a try if you've been dismissing it as a kids movie, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Amazing Movie- Age: Not Required

This movie is simply outstanding. I was blown away, I rented it as a recommendation from a close friend, and I am glad I did. It was outstanding, due to a few reasons:
A. I love Dragons
B. Amazing Sound work
C. Well written story

The story is amazing, a Viking being the first to tame a dragon, and ride one. This is my first Movie review, but it was simply amazing.

Age is of no importance, I recommend it to anyone.
