A quality guitar at a bargain price.

I bought this guitar as a steel-stringed alternative to my classical guitar. The key features that sold me were the AC340's modest price, a concert body shape that approximates classical guitars, the presence of a mahogany-like solid top which would emphasize mid-range tones and the 45mm nut width which would make the migration from classical guitar a bit more tolerable.

This guitar proved to be all of those things and more. The build quality is outstanding -- something I've come to expect from Ibanez through the years. Even the unique OPN (open pore finish) is proving to be a pleasant change from the gloss which I usually prefer on my guitars, eliminating those distracting fingerprints which reflect off the surfaces of poly-surfaced guitars in brightly-lit settings. The tone is carefully nuanced with the mid-range bias I was seeking. String preference is yet to be determined and a bridge plate transducer will soon be added to allow amp use, as the body size and Okoume top are not specifically designed to project abundant volume like a spruce-topped dreadnought.

This is a bargain-priced guitar with quality construction and surprisingly refined mid-tone-biased sound. Read full review

Smooth Operator

Awesome playability, smooth action, and the open pore neck makes it easy to move up and down the neck. The shorter scale makes fretting a breeze. Sounds great and stays in tune pretty well. Definitely worth a look if you’re a finger style player, and even if you’re not it is so easy to play, I could recommend this guitar to anyone.Read full review
