Images and Words - Dream Theater - Great Band name

Some years back, a friend turned me onto Dream Theater, and I've been hooked ever since.
The Hard grinding metal of this hard rock band is just great! They're original, and not often do you find a Metal band with Melody. Dream Theater is not only loaded with Melody, but Lead singer James LaBrie carries heavy melodious tones throughout every song. This album Images and Words is the first one the band put out, and every album they put out thereafter can be said is their best work, cuz they seem to out-do themselves with every release.

I decided to buy it, cuz I used to own it, and lost the CD disc after leaving it in a car that we sold. I still have the jewel case for the CD, but now I need a replacement copy of the disc itself.

Overall, I highly recommend Dream Theater to ALL fans of Hard Rock and Metal music listeners.

DT's best

Just as many of you do, I listen to a voluminous amount of music. I'm confident Dream Theater is virtuosically the most adept band on the planet and that includes Rush, an obvious influence. What is special about Images & Words is that every song has purpose, each transition is part of a narrative and every fill serves the music itself instead of asserting only the chops of the musician. This is not always the case with progressive rock. To Dream Theater's credit, it has largely the case within their entire catelog thus far. With Images & Words however, not a single note could be edited to make it a more efficient record of the same weight. It is, by definition, a progessive music masterpiece. This record has muscle, subtlety, beauty, technical prowess and grace and it is singular to anything that has ever been released. It will bless your life.Read full review...

Advanced hard rock at its best

Dream theaters first record. Really their best record. You can hear the energy of youth, the ambition, the stunning musicianship. Pull me under is the radio song that rocks and is interesting to listen to.The longer songs like Glass moon and metropolis are epic adventures in hard rock.
Great arrangements, great tones and great songs.Tasteful, interesting and very hard rocking. We all know now, this is a classic album. A must have. Really a staple for advanced rock listeners. If you do not have this you should buy it now.NOW!

Talented Musicians - Not That Distinctive

After reading all the hype regarding this band in "Guitar World" - I took the risk and bought this CD. While I admire the instrumental work - especially the guitarist, the singer, to me is mediocre. His voice doesn't stand out. This is generic art-rock music. I don't hear an identifiable style.Read full review...

Dream Theater- Images and Words

I always enjoyed Dream Theater's diversity as a Progressive Rock Act. I have seen the countless times from a small club to a 25,000 seater. I have a nice collection of signed cd covers from some of my favorite Bands like Dream Theater. Thi is their second release with James Lebrie on vocals. Great Cd. Nice signatures and shipped great.

Nothing like getting some signed stuff which sometimes comes once in a lifetime.

DT'S most accessible album

Some of Dream Theater's best songs are on this album. Although the production sounds slightly dated, it's still a progressive metal classic!
