Put your thinking cap on.

What's good: It's really well-paced, perfect amount of characters, solid acting by everyone(a sharp dressed Gordon-Levitt reinvents himself), and smart dialogue. The music/sound was awesome too. The amount of breathtaking effects may not be as much as many think, but the couple of memorable ones are reminiscent of similar flicks "Dark City" and "The Matrix". Dicaprio's character is a good blend of resourceful and remorseful..thus creating the movie's main antagonist which is a fixation of his subconscious. Also, the comparison of dreaming to an addiction, or escape, is helpful to enjoying this film. This is also Pete Postlethwaite's last performance as he died shortly after the release.

What raised an eyebrow: Dream worlds became compartmentalized and controlled like a computer program or like hacking. Mal, who keeps sabotaging, may even imply "Malware". The mention of worms with the children is also noteworthy. The technology to achieve the 'linking' to someone's dream is not explained and only briefly shown. Also, a dreamer's projections keep fighting when the 'supposed' subject is not focused on them..making one occasionally ask "Who is really the mark here?" or "Where are the boundaries?"

Common with dream movies, you're at the mercy of the writer/director as to what may be reality or not from beginning to end. And after the credits roll, you will either have closure believing what you wanted to see, or you will begin questioning how many layers of the dream there may have actually been? Who pulled the most strings? It is even possible some of the team never met in the flesh..isn't it?!? Was inception occurring when we, the audience, were unaware?

Hmmm...have fun.

A Matrix reminiscent world that is wondrous to behold.

A boldly constructed wonder with plenty of, as one character describes it, "paradoxical architecture." Flaws aside, there's a lot to like about Inception and Nolan keeps his eye on the ball throughout. Taken at theatrical value, this tale of purposeful memory-travel is a fun and exciting trip into the creative subconscious. A brain-twister to be sure. But the fact that the plot demands attention only adds to the exhilaration. This is a story about dreams that requires the audience to stay awake. That's right ... don't blink. If you ned more popcorn then hit pause. Way too much going on here for missing a beat, but that also adds to the re-watch value. This is one of those films that you'll discover even more when watching the second and third time. Good news is it's entertaining enough to see again. Bad news is the story is heady enough to lose some viewers. More on the entertainment value: The action set pieces are spectacular. One scene involved a gravity-impaired face off in a rotating hallway within a Matrix reminiscent world that is wondrous to behold.Read full review...

Inception (DVD, 2010)

I bought this movie at the suggestion of my older brother. It had nothing to do with Leonardo Dicaprio, although I certainly wasn't disappointed to see that I knew two notable actors, the other being Michael Caine. And after watching the movie for five minutes, I went back to the beginning and turned on the subtitle. There are lots of international stars, and I wasn't easily able to understand all the foreign accents until I did that. I recommend doing the same if you get this DVD.
This story has many strange and unexpected twists. I was all mixed up until I realized there were several levels involving dreams. Leonardo plays the main character named Dom Cobb, and he is the best there is at "extraction:" stealing valuable secrets inside the subconscious during the mind's vulnerable dream state. His skill has made him a coveted player in industrial espionage. The inception in this movie is about "planting" an idea rather than stealing one. Then he and his team can pull off the "perfect" crime.
Of course in a good story, there is the dangerous enemy, and the confusion I had was understanding this deep story's enemy. I was really at wit's end trying to figure out the twist of his wife's role--but the complications in their relationship added a deep cover so that the story was a mystery until the very end. I kept getting clues, but I couldn't piece it together at my first viewing of the movie.
The graphics in this movie are fantastic. How can a street suddenly make a 90 degree turn and cars go staight up in the air while maintaining their grip on the pavement? That's just one of the many mysteries you can view in this most- interesting movie. At some point in the viewing, I wondered if M.C. Escher was hired to do the graphics. That's how awesome they were. They were spectacular. Believe me!
I rated this movie excellent in every aspect. It is definitely not of the ho-hum variety. It has action--and lots of it dramatic. There was a little blood, and continued surprises one after the other. I never knew what to expect, which made it most entertaining.

Excellent Movie And Ending!

This is another great movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. He always knows how to keep the character "alive" and this is no different. Leonardo brings the characters emotions to the surface and lets us know that we all can make the same choices if in the same circumstance. You find out thru the movie why the character makes the decisions he does. Out of love and out of trying to keep it real.
You will want to watch closely throughout the movie to not miss anything. It comes together in the end and makes sense. The special effects are such that you think you see one thing when in reality it is something else entirely.
For anyone who loves Leonardo DiCarprio's work get this one. A great artist who really knows his craft, Leonardo is one the best actors we have of our time.

Differnt Shadow

New-age thinking material. Reality and fantasy emerge together. Hollywood has another fix-it-yourself film. Thought uncontrolled is a glimpse at insanity.

AMAZING Sci-Fi Thriller! Just A Dream???

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in this sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best there is at extraction: stealing valuable secrets inside the subconscious during the mind’s vulnerable dream state. His skill has made him a coveted player in industrial espionage but also has made him a fugitive and cost him dearly. Now he may get a second chance if he can do the impossible: inception, planting an idea rather than stealing one. If they succeed, Cobb and his team could pull off the perfect crime. But no planning or expertise can prepare them for a dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy only Cobb could have seen coming. A Sci-Fi Thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat!Read full review...
