Xeon x5470 and SSE4.1

For a compatible socket 775 motherboard you cannot go wrong with this Xeon cpu. After updating my motherboard cpu microcode this cpu runs and operates awesome with my multi boot Windows XP, 7 64bit, 10 32 bit and 10 64bit. Computer. The modification needed for the motherboard isn't hard and putting the sticker needed to allow Xeon cpu's to work in socket 775 compatible motherboards is a snap. Search 771 to 775 for all the details for the mod.Read full review...

Good for servers, not so good for mod. LGA 775

Xeon X5470 will function but was missing SSE4.1 instruction under the LGA 771 to LGA 755 modification. Having used an E5450 which all instructions were present without the hassle of adding microcode.<br>The X5470 just like the E5472 requires new Microcode (BIOS Update manually) using special programs to install.
As technical advanced as I am, the procedure given by Delidded website and other sites including forums and You Tube left much to be desired how to microcode. I have opted to purchase an Core 2 Duo E8600 and quads Q9650 and QX9650. If you are a Full Time Gamer, use an Overclocked E8400, E8500 or E8600. If planning to be more Workstation and Video Editing use Q9550 or Q9650. For those like to really Overclock for purpose of it and to play games or AutoCAD, videos, etc. aka Workstation then the extreme QX9650 (prefer C1 stepping than C0) would be the way to go. Prices vary on eBay but all are obtainable E5450 about 30, X5470 or E5472 about 50, E8600 about 15, Q9650 about 60 to 75 and QX9650 about 90 to 140. Do I recommend the X5470 - no, seems that a E5450 is near equivalent to Q9650. But you can try as you wish with any Xeon CPU for fun / experiment. So if you like to Microcode then get Xeon CPU's otherwise stick to the type of CPU's made for your motherboard. If you have a motherboard or Server that can Utilize TWO CPU's then Xeon was just made for that purpose. Quality is good, but as for LGA 771 mod to LGA 775 the value and recommendation is no. Causes Diablo 3 (is playable) random error during game play believed related to microcode or instruction missing.

Worked with LGA 771 to LGA 775 mod

Processor worked well in LGA 775 socket after LGA 771 to LGA 775 mod. Motherboard is a Foxconn DG33M03, which comes as an OEM in the quad core version of the Dell Inspiron 530. Performance was significantly improved from Core 2 Quad running at a slightly higher clock speed.Read full review...

4th Gen Core I5 Competitor!

More powerful than the Core i5-4440 when overclocked to only 3.8 Ghz, and can be taken up to 4.5 Ghz on air cooling only, INSANE!!! Obviously these Xeon X5470's were never meant to go so high however the fact that they safely can is a testament to their outstanding engineering, 8 years after their initial release!!! The secret sauce with this chip is the high max temp (it can go up to 80c before throttling it's frequency down) plus it's true quad-core design plus it's high amount of cache, which even cpu's made today (like the aforementioned 4440 don't have). Ultimately the X5470 is such an outstanding chip that I can recommend it for any and all tasks including high-end gaming as it can get up to 80% of the performance of 6th gen Skylake i5's, INCREDIBLE! Pick one up today you can't go wrong with this amazing chipRead full review...

Best 775 processor

Best LGA 775 processor, better than a QX9770.
It is running a bit hot so you need a powerful fan and you will not get problems.

Reviving LGA775 systems, one processor at a time.

Why upgrade to an i3?... When you can get one of these for next to nothing, either keep it the way it is and expect moderately good performance compared to even today's standards or overclock it and tear your buddies i3 or even i5 to pieces.Read full review...
