Top-end 800MHz FSB CPU for socket PGA478 breathes life into ageing systems!

My eMachines needed to be completely disassembled to install the CPU, but it's a great CPU that breathes life into old PGA478 systems. I type this review from that very T9300 laptop with 3GB RAM and a GL40 chipset. I'm running Manjaro Linux with about ten or eleven tabs open and other stuff. It's great.Read full review...

T9300 a good reliable cheap speedup replacement for the T5000 series

The T9300 is a excellent replacement for the T5450. Depending on the process, it speeds up the laptop by about 30%. Also, I have not noticed any real heat difference. However, I found that putting faster memory does not help noticeably; Tom's Hardware site also agrees with this issue about memory, unless it is new fast board's major frequency speed-up. Also, the people that say the T9300 only speeds up 10% are trying to use percentages off MS Operating System index type of performance numbers, which does not work.Read full review...

I recommend this upgrade to anyone with a Penryn-capable mainboard

From a sheer CPU-perspective, the T9300 gives you the most bang for your buck, plain and simple.

I bought this to upgrade the CPU in my Lenovo T61, from a T7300 (2.0 Ghz) to a T9300 (2.6 Ghz). The result was a greater-than 25 percent boost in performance across the board for CPU-intensive applications. The T9500, or fastest I can put in my T61, was only a little bit faster but cost twice as much.

I like that mt laptop actually runs cooler by 2-3 degrees centigrade with the new processor - so it's faster and cooler - what more could you ask for? How about installation? All it took was to replace the CPU - no additional software or hardware required.

If you're looking to squeeze a few more years from your existing system, this is your best investment.

Great but not worth it anymore.

Dont let my rating fool you! THE ONLY REASON TO BUY THIS IS TO UPGRADE AN 07 IMAC TO RUN CATALINA BADLY. Outside of that once you give up on trying to run Catalina it does give fair bit of a boost to the 07 iMac making it a pretty decent daily web surfing / GarageBand running machine with OS X 10.11. If running 10.11 is your game though just save your money for a compatible Core 2 extreme. Read full review...

If want to upgrade your Santa Rosa laptop, this is the way to go!

If you have an old laptop with Santa Rosa platform and want to add some more power to it, you should probably replace the existing Merom chip with a Penryn one. As most Penryns run at higher FSBs and are not supported on Santa Rosa, your choice is not that big - T8100, T8300, T9300 or T9500. Since T9500 is considered somewhat a flagman, it is too pricy and only differs from the T9300 by an extra 100MHz. This makes the T9300 the sensible solution.
It is faster and runs cooler than any Merom, so it is a very good upgrade. You should, however, check if your BIOS supports Penryns and update it if necessary.
I upgraded from T7500 to T9300 and even though T7500 is also a very good CPU, my laptop now runs faster and cooler.

T9300 Intel Chip

It takes about 4 to 5 hours for my first year down. But just about everything works just fine. The only problem that I have is excessive fan speed and heat at the top of the LCD. I can only conclude is a faulty sensor or the lack of a sensor contact. I have not yet decided my next moveRead full review...

Getting a bit more life out of a old laptop

This item was used to upgrade a older toshiba laptop (x205 series) from a t7100 to the faster proc available at a reasonable cost. I took a few hours to wade through all the layers on this machine but the process went fairly well.
I used silver heat sink compound and now the machine runs faster and cooler as a result. It's running Win 7 x64. Ran the windows experience metric and the net result was an improvement w/6.1 proc, 5.9 memory, 5.8 aero, 6.4 3d and 5.9 disk. The original values were approx 5.3, 5.6, 5.4, 5.6.

considering the cost and time a worth while upgrade, only 4 start as I had higher expectations in perf improvements. but better than the original

T9300 CPU

The CPU arrived relatively quickly and well packed.
The CPU itself looks brand new and it came with a thermal paste.
I bought it for a little reno I'm doing for fun on a Lenovo G550 with GL40 chipset, I just plugged it, put the thermal paste and turn the laptop on.
The laptop ran so(!) much fast compared to the old P4500 that all I could think about is why didn't I bought it sooner.
