Intex Explorer K2 Inflatable Kayak Review - or how to get your 16 yr old son to have a great day with you

This is a great kayak. I bought two of them. Rarely can I get my 16 year old son to hang with us parents but when we got the kayaks he volunteered and we had a blast. We had them out of the bag and up easily. Realized we were taking on water when we didn't close the valve in the bottom of the kayak (HA!). Obviously didn't read the directions. We even grabbed them and carried them over a land bridge to another water area. Breakdown was easy (just bring a dry towel to wipe them down) and they fit in the bag easy. We plan on rigging them for fishing next. Great purchase from VM Innovations. Thanks! Read full review...

Great Value ....But

This is a great product for the price. It has many good featured ( easy to transport...tandem craft) The only problem is the seats..They don't support you at all..they fold up under you and are uncomfortable. Over-all it is a great buyRead full review...

Great kayak for the price.

I purchased this as my first kayak ever. I wanted an inflatable kayak because they're cheaper and easier to store. This one suits me just fine. The paddles and pump that are supplied are a bonus. The pump fills on the up and down stroke making inflation much faster. It inflates in less than 10 minutes for the kayak and seats. The only design flaw that I can see is that there is not a Boston valve for the bottom chamber. They have a flap valve instead so I over inflate so I can have enough in the bottom even with the air that is released as the valve is being capped. The Boston valves for the side chambers make inflation a breeze and it deflates in seconds. I was happily surprised when I could deflate, fold up and store the kayak, pump and paddles (when broken down) back into the storage/carry bag with room to spare. I've taken it out 3 times (once for each of my children) as of this review and it has handled very well. It handled some minor boat wake well too. The paddles are good enough for a starter. They are holding up well but they do make sturdier ones (if you're willing to spend more money). In my opinion I would recommend this for anyone.Read full review...

Excellent Quality!!!

I purchased these kayak for our family vacation, and we wanted something that was quick to transport. First of all the sell was helpfull with the shipping right off the bat, and by combining both orders. Second the shipping was fast and arrive early then I expected. We opened up the package but didn't use them right away due to the weather. Once we were able to use the kayaks, the storage system was impressive. They were easy to inflate, easy to carry in and out of the water. I can honestly say I was impressed with my purchase!!Read full review...

Good enough.

First off I’m about 6’ and 240lbs and I was in the back with a 4’8” and 70lbs girl in front on a lake with about 5 mph winds. This thing is simple to get set up. Took about 10 minutes to get ready for the water. I had to pull the straps on the backrest pretty tight for more support. I had to slide my legs into the creases along the sides of the seat of the front person just so I wasn’t crammed. It is pretty sturdy but it doesn’t track well and gets blown off course by the wind pretty easy. It also doesn’t glide as easily through the water as I thought it might. I recommend this for people on a budget that want to get out on the water or (like me) have several kids and can’t afford a real kayak for everyone. Read full review...

Great value for lake and harbor cruising.

The easily portable Intex Explorer K2 2-person inflatable kayak can be quickly converted for single person use. The efficient hand pump works well to fully inflate the kayak in about 10 minutes. The valves include quick deflation functions on the 2 main tubes. It can be folded up and carried inside the back of a SUV for easy transport without tying to the roof rack. With careful use, avoiding collisions with sharp objects, I expect to get several years of enjoyable kayak cruising. I do not expect to be racing anyone. The price is right!Read full review...

Great fun at a Reasonable Price

Love this kayak. This is my second Intex, the other is the one-person rig and I love them both. I walk out the door with the duffel bag on my back and 15 minutes later I'm kayaking down the river. It's that easy and intuitive. I have only piloted this one solo, so far, but it was quite manageable and I can imagine that it's a blast with two on board. This isn't a full blown kayak, but more like 2/3 kayak, 1/3 pool toy. If you know that going in, you'll be happy. Read full review...

So fun, super easy set up, back support only issue.

Great value boat. So relaxing. Not frustrating.set up was easy, putting it away was easy. We rode down the river on it for two hour today. Not a lot of white water, so not any challenges but I think it would do ok. Paddles are fine. The straps to hook up the seat are centered low so it doesn't offer great back support, this might be problematic for someone with even minor back issues. I think I will find a new front seat for it. It is a bit more like a canoe than a kayak, but I think I like this better than a hard kayak for my purposes. I thought it was great. I am super happy I got it. Looking forward to more chill days on the river. Might even get another one for friends. So much more my style than tubing. Appears sturdy and with overall good design. Not too hard to maneuver either.Read full review...

Great Kayak

The explorer K2 is a great kayak. I can transport it deflated anywhere in my Mini Cooper and inflate it on site and place in the water. High quality and the seats are very comfortable on the back. Plus having 2 seats means taking a friend or extra supplies for long journeys in the water.
Thanks for the kayak. I love it.

Easy to set up and good on the water

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this kayak, and the ease of setting it up and using it. I tried it out on a state park lake this weekend with my 9 year old. We are both beginners with kayaking, and we had no trouble getting in and out of it, or operating it. It held its air, and felt stable in the water. It is a bit if a pain getting enough air back out of it to fold it up and repack it, but it was worth it it be able to transport it in the back seat of the car and store it in a closet.Read full review...

Great price, great kayak

Didn't know what to expect for price but it was great! 4th of july party with 4 teens 4 20 somethings, all of them used and loved it. Teens kept seats out and had 3 people in it in San Diego harbor. Totally recommend, very sturdy and the black inside kayak didn't get too hot despite in sun all dayRead full review...
