Into the Blue (2005, DVD)

Stunning tropical scenery and gorgeous athletic movie stars may not make a movie great, but they sure don't hurt. Jared (Paul Walker, The Fast and the Furious) dreams of finding sunken treasure and making millions, but his girlfriend Sam (Jessica Alba, Fantastic Four, Sin City) is content with their poor but idyllic life in the Bahamas. Still, when they find artifacts from a 19th century pirate ship, she gets caught up in the excitement--until they also find a crashed plane full of smuggled cocaine. Naturally, someone's going to want that cocaine back... From there, Into the Blue is a surprisingly well-plotted action movie, unpredictable in its specifics if familiar in its broader outlines. Even more pleasant, the action itself stays plausible and genuinely engaging throughout. Jared seems able to hold his breath for a preternaturally long time, but aside from that the movie is meticulous about the dangers and threats the characters face and is all the stronger for it. Add to this its unabashed ogling of Alba and Walker (both of whom are astonishing physical specimens) and you have a solid romp. Also featuring Scott Caan (Ocean's Eleven), Tyson Beckford (Biker Boyz), and Josh Brolin (Flirting With Disaster) as a slimy rival treasure hunter.Read full review...

nto the Blue (DVD, 2005)

This is a beautifully shot movie made in the Bahamas. Lots of diving in beautiful clear water, white sans, and bronzed bodies, in tiny bikinis. Paul Walker and Jessica Alba are lovers living in and enjoying the life of sun and sea. She works with sharks at a nearby aquarium, and he takes people diving, when not trying to fix up an old piece of crap boat. He has these ideas of going treasure hunting and striking it rich. An old buddy of his comes for a visit and brings along an attractive, but trashy girlfriend who is a druggie. On a dive they find an old gold dagger that might be treasure from an old ship called the Zephyr. This ship was supposedly carrying about 200 million dollars treasure. While looking around for other artifacts, they discover a crashed airplane full of cocaine. Problem is the cocaine is too close to the treasure, and if they alert the authorities, the treasure hunt is off, or even worse, someone else might find the treasure. The old buddy is desperate and in debt, and the dope is just too tempting. His druggie girlfriend is also wanting to go after the drugs. Paul's old boss and friend, is also in the salvage and treasure business, but is also in the drug business too. He is looking for the plane too. All of a sudden, everybody is looking for the drugs, and the pressure is on. They are forced to try to recover the drugs, but in the process the gruggie girlfriend is killed by a shark. The climactic ending of this movie is very good and the treasure is recovered. This is an enjoyable film.Read full review...

Adventure Never Has Really This Hot.

Never mind that Paul Walker and Jessica Alba heat up the screen together. Well of course they would. Never mind that they diving for sunken treasure. Never mind that they are swimming in shark infested waters. Never mind that they take some stupid friend along with them. Never mind that they got a ruthless gang of criminals chasing them threatening to kill them if they don't deliver a lost cargo of cocaine back to them within 24 hours.

Brought to you by Director, John Stockwell, this 110 minute film has everything for everyone.

4/5 for me.

into the blue

pretty good movie loosely based on the movie the deep. just watching jessica alba doing the dolphin kick underwater is worth the prive of the dvd. she is the hottest chick in hollywood right now and this was a great way to prove she wasn't just a wallflower.

the clarity of the underwater scenes was fantastic, although the supposed artifacts were easily seen as a fake. it could have been done a little better but if you were not a scuba diver you probably wouldn't notice. all in all I really enjoyed the film.

My Favorite Movie Yet

This movie is great, because it has many impressive qualities.
Into the Blue is a fun movie to watch, has upbeat music, awesome cinemetography, dive variations, beautiful scenery, good looking cast,2 different romantic relationships to compare, a challenge at individuals' morals&values. the actors are perfect role fits (kudos to casting crew).
The movie was written well, not thrown together. Has inspired me to enjoy life, make the right choices and hopefully meet Paul Walker one day.(haha)

Not bad, but not the greatest...

It was okay. I found it to be extremely predicable and just another hyped up action flick with hot actors. Alba was surprisingly good in this, I liked her sensitive character. However I thought it got pretty boring towards the middle until the end (last half an hour), in fact I could barely keep my eyes open and I never fall asleep during movies. I think the fast paced action towards the end was too much for me and you can barely see what's really happening. Seemed to just drag on and on. I say rent it first before buying!!Read full review...
