Invincible Iron Man Posted by CK-Auctions

I am very pleased with the current migration of Marvel and DC into other forms of media. With more attention being paid to feature films and animated series there truly is no better time to be a comic book fan. While DC seems content with airing TV series, Marvel has been doing well with direct to DVD animated movies. The Ultimate Avengers was well received among fans and garnered an equally enjoyable sequel. Now it's Iron Man's turn to play all by himself.

The Invincible Iron Man brings Marvel's billionaire playboy Tony Stark back into the animated realm. This time around instead of acting like he's an established character the DVD tells the tale of his origin and first adventures as the man in the iron suit. Now, as a fan of the comic book let me tell you right up front that there are discrepancies between this origin and the original. Instead of picking those apart just take a look at this DVD as if it were a separate universe and that inner fanboy will quiet down.

I enjoyed watching The Invincible Iron Man but it didn't open any new doors for me as an Iron Man fan. From the start the story was pretty straight forward and predictable though a few twists kept the adventure exciting along the way. Some of the character development also felt kind of forced to me with things simply happening for no reason other than to further the plot. I guess there is the argument that this is a cartoon and therefore intended for a younger audience but I do have to say that it's handled in such a manner that adults will still be able to enjoy it.

In the end The Invincible Iron Man should be considered an achievement by comic book fans. The solid adventure features a lot of action and a rich comic book atmosphere that will leave you wanting more DVDs just like it (such as the upcoming Dr. Strange title). Anyone that has ever flipped through an Iron Man comic definitely should check it out but if you're merely a supporter of the genre you'll appreciate the effort taken with this release.

Impeccable timing

My brother summed it up best when he said, “it’s a “streamline” origin story.”

And he was right.

Coupled with the fact that the release of this animated film (1-23-07) can only help the upcoming feature-length film Iron Man (set to be released on May 30, 2008), This animated Invincible Iron Man DVD release is sure to get new fans interested and educated as to the origins of Tony Stark and his Iron Man alter ego.

However, longtime “shell head” fans may not be open to this interpretation of their tin hero and would most likely be abhorrently disappointed with the incorporation of James “Rhodey” Rhodes (voiced superbly by Rodney Saulsberry) into Tony Stark’s figurative transformation into Iron Man (voiced by Marc Worden who is no stranger to the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man with 2006’s Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers II under his belt.), The Mandarin’s power rings (or lack of), and the disgusting convenience and progression of the Mark01 armor as well as Tony’s other proverbial “toys for the big boys.”

Overall, it was entertaining—despite the potential gaff in interpreting the Chinese "demon elementals" as Western elements (air, earth, fire, and water instead of earth, fire, metal, water, and wood), I have nothing but praise for the voice actors as I believe Gwendoline Yeo (voiced Li Mei), Fred Tatasciore (The Mandarin), John McCook (Howard Stark), Elisa Gabrielli (Virginia 'Pepper' Pots) and the aforementioned Saulsberry and Worde played their roles to the hilt.

Tony Stark/Iron Man is a Wanted man?

The Invincible Iron Man is a movie that I will admit that if it was made into the Iron Man Movies starring Robert John Downey Jr. the Iron Man Movies would have done even better. The Iron Man origin in this movie is wrong so that is one good thing that makes the Iron Man Movies great. This movie has family trust issues with Tony Stark and his father, little of China's History, Chinese's Mythology and mythical prophecies. Now after Tony Stark was fired the ancient city was raise bring about what could be the end of man. There is action, fighting, shooting and killing in this movie. The prophecies are fulfill can Iron Man the choosing one defeat the four elementals, the Dragon and the woman who is to bring the Mandarin prophecies to past? I am NOT against Nudity and Sex because God Jesus Christ created Nudity and Sex so I HATE that this movie have a Naked woman but they do not show her Naked even though they should have. In the end the movie there is many changes that will make you say what and/or trash.Read full review...

Marvel's Invincible Iron Man Movie on DVD

Well, I just got finished enjoying the new Marvel Invincible Iron Man on DVD and actually felt like watching it again! If you are not going to hold fast that Marvel should retell the original Iron Man origin and view this as a modern stand alone movie, it's great! You can reread the comics for the original version.
You do get to see the original gray Iron Man suit, as the origin is reconfigured to fit the context of the movie!
The Tony Stark character was portrayed excellently and the addition of the Mandarin's henchmen, the Elementals, was awesome!
The Hall of Armor was awesome to comprehend and the Hall of Armor feature takes us through the evolution of the many different capabilities of the different armors at Stark's disposal.
Down side, only a pittance of the Mandarin. I guess that would be in the second movie.
I got my dvd at Best Buy which has 3 exclusive Iron Man trading cards inside!

Invincible Iron MAN

Tony Stark - Iron Man, billionaire industrialist and director of S.H.I.E.L.D. - faces the most overwhelming challenge of his life. Ezekiel Stane, the son of Tony's late business rival and archenemy Obadiah, has set his sights, his genius and his considerable fortune on the task of destroying Tony Stark and Iron Man. What's worse, he's got Iron Man tech, and he's every bit Iron Man's equal and opposite...except younger, faster, smarter...and immeasurably evil.Read full review...

Poor copy with lots of missed spelled subtitles.

The printing of this copy was very poorly done. At times the picture froze up but worse yet the subtitle that was in English, many words were missed spelled. Thus at times it was hard to follow the cartoon.Read full review...

One of the wrst animated movies I have ever seen

Avoid this movie at all costs. The film is slow, boring, and completely chaotic in its plotline. They have basically re-written the origin of Iron Man in about the most poor fashion possible. In addition you never actually see Iron Man in the gold and yellow armor, regardless of what the cover art shows you. With the pseudo nudity and adult theme, one can only surmise that this was a poor attempt by an American creator to mimic Japanese animation themes and failing miserably.Read full review...

invincible Iron Man

I decided to buy the dvd after seeing the movie Iron Man. I had forgotten about all the Iron Man comics I read as a kid. The movie revived the interest I once had for all things Science Fiction. I was not disappointed by this animated version, it was well worth the price.Read full review...
