Iron man 2

As Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) owns up to being Iron Man before the world press, Anton Vanko lies dying in Russia. Years ago, Anton worked with Tony's father to create a new source of energy. But greed got the best of Anton, and now as he slips away, his son, Ivan (Mickey Rourke), vows to make Tony pay for the sins of his father. Meanwhile, Tony fends off efforts from smarmy Senator Stern} (Garry Shandling) and military weapons expert Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) to divulge the secrets of his powerful Iron Man suit. The powers that be are concerned that Tony's technology may fall into the wrong hands -- fears that are soon confirmed when the cocky billionaire entrepreneur is confronted in front of the entire world by Ivan, who has built his own weapon using stolen Stark blueprints. Later, as Lt. Rhodes (Don Cheadle) wrestles with the decision to personally deliver Tony's suit to the military, Ivan finds an unlikely ally in the quest to destroy Iron Man; Stark Industries legal consultant Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson) reveals her connection to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson); and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) takes on some new responsibilities.Read full review...

Great Sequel and a great movie

Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark in this sequel to the blockbuster Iron Man. This movie takes up right at the end of the first film with Stark announcing he is Iron Man and goes on from there. The plot revolves around the technology of the Iron Man suit and who should own or control the technology. The government wants it, foreign governments want it and so do all the other defense contractors, the chief being Hammer Industries headed by Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).
As the movie begins we find out that Tony Starks father had a partner in the design of the Arc Reactor, Anton Vanko (Yevgeni Lazarev). As Anton dies his son Ivan (Mickey Rourke) sets out to get even with Tony Stark for his father destroying his family.

This is a great movie and a great sequel. Most of the characters are the same with the exception of Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard as Air Force Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes

Starring in this movie are: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man, Don Cheadle as Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko, Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia "Pepper" Potts, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, Scarlett Johansson as Natalie Rushman / Natasha Romanoff, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan (Tony Stark's bodyguard and chauffeur), John Slattery as Howard Stark, Garry Shandling as United States Senator Stern, Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, Leslie Bibb as reporter Christine Everhart and Paul Bettany as the voice Stark's computer, JARVIS.
Also appearing are: Comic Book Legend Stan Lee appears as himself but is mistaken for Larry King. News anchor Christiane Amanpour and political commentator Bill O'Reilly as themselves.

I recommend this movie to anyone who loves a great action movie and especially to Marvel Comic Lovers.

NOTE: Be sure you watch after the end titles for a 30 second continuation to the movie and a lead in to a possible Iron Man III movie?

Better to Give Than To Receive

Iron Man 2, the sequel to the first movie with Robert Downey Jr as the hero, more like as the alter ego, Tony Stark, is based on the near 40 yr old comic book character. The first movie followed the comic book closely, even playing out the elderly scientist who assisted Stark to make the armor who then sacrificed himself to give Stark time to become functional. This was all in the first issue of Iron Man long ago. What was changed was Stark was now in Iraq as opposed to Viet Nam back then.
Where the sequel is concerned with appearances by old comic book characters such as Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow (a Russian spy, I think her name was altered for the movie) and Whiplash, a rather odd choice for a villian, with Mickey Roarke in the role, were old faves from the late sixties and seventies as well.

I opted to give this movie to my older brother for his 51st birthday. He was rather surprised, so I am glad and I'm certain he will enjoy it as he is an old comic book buff from his childhood years, as am I.

Sit down and be prepared to be amazed

The first Iron Man is such a great action packed movie full of great entertainment. Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man. The role seems almost tailored for him. Top of the line A+ movie that is sure to never get dull. Iron man 2 on the other hand is enjoyable for the most part but lacking in the vein of iron man 1. Some characters seem a little flat, but still a decent companion for the first.Read full review...

Iron Man 2 .....Ok

This was not as good as iron man 1. Even though it was full of things that go boom, it was serious lacking a "certain something". Micky Rourke and Scarlette JOhansen were not very good in this movie. His fake russian accent and her very poor man's cat woman turned super hero were pathetic. ScarJo even appeared to be shuffling through an action scene looking like she was recounting every step she was supposed to take rather than being in the moment, and it showed. Micky Rourke sounded like an american pretending, badly, to russian. Instead of just coming off as russian scientist looking to avenge hs father and family name. I never felt his anger, or any other negative emotion one would associate with someone bend on revenge at all costs. Very poor acting. Robert Downey Jr and Gwynth Paltrow were the highlight of the film, their acting made this movie watchable but not wonderful. In conclusion I would advise people to rent this movie from redbox watch it twice, if you can stimach it, and then return it. Thant way you only lose $1.06 instead of the $19 or $20 ot is being sold most places.Read full review...

MICKY ROURKE IS TOO COOL, ECLIPSES "JR."!!!!!!!!!!

....Stark finally gets to suck face with Potts....but at a price, of course....like having to go up against BAD ASS MICKEY ROURKE who should have a shelf full of Academy Awards by now. Sometimes I wondered if he was acting, his roles are so convincing. Well, they changed niggas on us in this flick....the Colonel is a different lump of coal & not nearly as good as the first...we got the same driver for Stark, and the Vanity Fair twat is back....along with the weird 'man in black', short, NSA type dude...and Pepper, yes.....we need to see her get her bells rung by Iron Man with a boner!!!!!No breasts, no butts, plenty of metal to metal fu, and an AC/DC soundtrack THAT SUCKS BECAUSE BON SCOTT WAS AC/DC!!!!!!!!!!Joe Bob sez, "Check it out!"Read full review...

Will there be a part 3? I'd ask WHY?

In ths movie some guy I never heard of before,as a fan of Iron Man growing up, has a Vendetta against Tony Stark over something about the super copasitor thingamajig in Tony's Chest keeping the electromagnet powered to keep the shrapnel out of his heart was originally stolen from his Dad(or something)
Meanwhile TOny is crossing things off his "Bucket list" becaue his "dirty" little secret is the super capasitor in his chest has radioactive sideeffects as the world is baffled as why he is doing "crazy" things
TO top things off the UGS Government wants his "toy" that they view as a Weapon that "shouldn't only be in the hands of 1 man"
Overall...I liked Ironman 1 better cause none of the storylines meshed let alone seem to have any point..but then Again the original Iron Man only had to find a wall outlet once his power was low...didn't he?

don't miss this one!

the film is excellent, better than I had been led to believe. Fun action scenes, snark, emotion, character development, weird and annoying villains (lol). The cast are all terrific, led by Robert Downey Jr who can wring my heart like a dang dishrag without saying a word. Read full review...
