The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick M. Lencioni

An excellent source for establishing trust within decision making teams that are typically stifled by over-bearing, competitive, un-confident, and incompetent members. This gives ways to create good conflict in decision making meetings. Ways to get everyones professional opinion without all of the personal and emotional obsticles. A great read with story a form example that you dont want to put down because you want to see what happens in a silicone valley high-tech corporation slipping from #1 to #3 and falling that the author creates to play out the 5 dysfunctions of a team and how a savvy woman from the auto industry met them head on and created a productive top notch team that learned to trust each other and bring out their specialities in the field to bring the company back to the top.Read full review...

Great book to read and re-read

Mr. Lencioni does a marvelous job in demonstrating the different areas in which all teams need to improve on. I for one work in the IT field and have found such personalities can make or break a team. They refer to Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for evaluating the personalities you will have to work with. That alone has made me a better team member. Helping to build trust within the team is the first function, lack there of is the first dysfunction. Each dysfunction is given ample discussion and development before he moves on to the next one. There is a section that serves as a synopsis. Read the entire book and learn how to work with and get to know how these characters survive the valley and flourish.Read full review...

Fit your life not just business relationships

Even though this book is written as a team building book it fits your entire life if your reflect on it. Your work, your marriage or relationship, and even close personal friendships are built with these principles! Great Book. The only problem that I can see is that people are different, as seen in personality profiles, mand getting them to buy into this and read it is just hard for them to do from thier own personality type. You have to have a leader that understands this and can drive the concept.

Easy to read and I have already bought a couple of copies and given to friends and business partners.

Impressively written - great ideology - easily implementable

The book is a clever story about a fictitious company who has lost their direction. A small town woman leader steps into the new role as the GM of a large influential corporation. It is an easy read because the movement of change is compelling, confrontational, and received differently by everyone on the team. I would recommend this book to everyone, it teaches lifestyle attributes, to be implemented by all corporations who want a team atmosphere.Read full review...

An interesting read, especially for a subject area that I didn't think I'd find interesting.

I am only about halfway through the book, but right from the beginning, it held my interest. I am looking forward to finding out whether the dysfunction issues get resolved.

The Dysfunciton of a Team

I bought the book because my daughter who is part of a ministry team in California said that their staff had been reading it and it had been very helpful for them. Since I am part of a church plant also I wanted to see if it might be something that we could use also. I have found it to be a good book and has some good priciples that we may be able to use although we have not looked at the book yet as a group as we have been studying some other resources. I think for someone that it is leadership it is a good read.Read full review...
