Vintage guy into vintage games

PS2 format has been resurrected for me thanks to seller's on Ebay,...games are plenty challenging for this old guy,...and what's cool is the fact that I've been able to require all my favorite games from years ago...Read full review...

Not really a Quatum Leap...

Quantum of Solace for the PS2 is a good 3rd person, over-the-shoulder shooter. The graphics are a little San Andreas-y, which is by no means a bad thing and the voice acting is A+. But, and it's a pretty big one, it doesn't really feel like a Bond game. It's similar in feel to 007:EON, but without the gadgets and the icoic Bond accoutrement. There is no real Q Branch input here. No laser watch, cell phone scrambler, or even knock-out dara cufflinks. Kinda lame. But it's solid. On par with any shooter for the PS2, but low on the Bond Game Totem, where Goldeneye still rules the roost, simply because you feel like James Bond. Here you feel more like a Blond Dude in a windbreaker and a silenced nameless gun (no Walther PPK?)pretending to be Bond. Before I forget, the music is A+. My review is a solid B. As for the Bond games, its maybe 4rd or 5th.Read full review...

Quantum of Solace (PS2) - decent

I played the PS2 version and from what I know, the PS3, X360, and Wii versions are significantly different, and I know nothing about them. What I can tell you is that the PS2 game is a OK production. The game is limited to a one player story mode of 10 missions with cutscenes and tolerable load times. The fighting style is over the shoulder, in other words, Bond isn't centered on screen. The combat is largely based on stealth, but includes levels of automatic blaring action. The graphics and sound are decent to good. The AI is excellent; however, the animation is sometimes lame and unrealistic. The shooting and targeting system is really good, but silent kills and melee attacks are a joke. Basically all the action is based on guns (2 different pistols, 2 or 3 automatics, 1 shotty and 1 sniper throughout the game), with no gadgets or secondary weapons of any kind. The combat is fun though, with features like taking cover, pre-aiming for quick ambush, health regeneration, and worthy adversaries. Secrets and unlockables are rare or nonexistent. Also, sometimes the movement system is awkward and the view is difficult. I thought it was worth the price of about $20. Overall I found the levels fun and pretty engaging. Buy this game if you want a single player, linear game that can be conquered in 6 - 8 hours.Read full review...

My man, Dave

My man, Dave sent me this game and I got it with everything as described (obviously, Dave is a G). The game is fun, it's PS2 graphics and controls, but it's pretty decent. Everything I expected out of the game, and more than I expected from Dave. 5/5 will probably buy something from againRead full review...

A worthy 007 game!

This is one I missed during the hay day of the PS2. It’s essentially a console exclusive since it differs so much from the FPS PS3 and Xbox versions. It reminds me a lot of Everything or Nothing and From Russia with love. I’m only a few hours in but it has great 007 atmosphere that is only bolstered by the music and gameplay. Highly recommend. Great Bond game. Does pretty good justice to the movie.

Good PS2 game. This one's in the 3rd person view, whereas the other versions of this game are in first person. First person is more my own style, but i think this view is good for this game. The controls are very complex, but once you master them, you have the ability to do so many different things and use so many different tactics that you really do feel like Bond. Like I said, though, the controls are pretty complex.Read full review...

Quantum of Solace PS2 is a OK game.....

Graphics and sound for the PlayStation 2 is great considering the system has been around since 2000. Its difficult to compare the new generation systems in terms of graphics and game play. The duck and cover system doesn't work too well. Shooting is some times difficult when you have to aim. Also too many levels where you have to chase the enemy. As you are chasing the bad guy, enemies jump out and you have to take them out quickly or the bad guys get away and it game over. There is no multi-player whats so ever. Not even extras to unlock. Game can be finished in under 5 hours if your moderate to pro.

To put it bluntly, pick up games like Everything or Nothing, NightFire, or Agent Under Fire. You'll get your moneys worth.
