Johnny Unitas
I have read a book by Tom Callahan before and figured this one would be good, and I was not disappointed. The Life and Times of Johnny Unitas is not only his story, but it is a story of the 50s & 60s, of a city's love for their football heroes, of the team's successes and failures and of individual players and their personalities, observations and talent. I've never been to Pittsburgh or Baltimore, but I have a feel for these cities 40-50 years ago. As far as Johnny U, you learn how he got to be the Legendary QB, but you also saw the man himself; his humble nature, kindness, work ethic and blunt honesty. The book is a very well written story of the life of the greatest quarterback in nfl history,Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts.There are many interesting anecdotes about Johnny and the Colts,one of the most popular nfl teams in the late 50's and 60's,when they won back to back championships.The book goes into
great detail of Johns early life and shows how his personality was formed.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is a Colt fan,Unitas fan or fan of football and sports in general.Read full review...

I have always been a Baltimore Colts and Johnny Unitas fan since 1956 to his death in 2002, and this book was the last one about his life. I had to have it to go with all of the other books I have about him. I now have all of them, until they come out with another one. MaryRead full review...
