Awesome game!

Back in the day I traded my TMNT game for Kid Icarus. I beat it in one night without a single death. I’ve never even come close to doing that since but anyone who says their son can beat any game but this one is too hard is just crazy and their kid isn’t as good at games. The game is simple. Kid Icarus, greatest game ever

Anyone who hasn’t played this game, needs to challenge themselves. 3 amazing worlds, 3 intricate (and aggravating) dungeons/castles. Great side games and power ups.

Could have been an NES great with better internal game aid.

Great game, if it wasn't so frustrating. My son, who can win any game out there was almost in tears with this game. They make it almost impossible to win without getting cheats. My son hates to use cheats because he feels he didn't earn the win. He loved the acutal game set-up and action as do most of the game's afficionados, but when they don't let the character back inside of shops or lead him into empty ones that cause his death when he returns to the world, it makes an exceedingly difficult game impossible. You can be the best gamer in the world, but won't get rewarded for it until you are pretty far into the game when most people would have given up. You finally get extra lives long after you have thrown your NES across the room and well past the point that a normal game would give them to you. My son did get through the game after I forced the cheats on him. Now that he got through once, he can actually get through without the cheats. He does love this game and I would love to give it five stars, because it could have been an NES great if they just didn't make the player so discouraged with lack of purpose places and placing game aid too far into the game.Read full review...

Flawed but still pretty fun!

Kid Icarus is pretty frustrating due to its checkpoint system and some terrible enemy designs, but it's still a decent time today! Its pseudo-RPG mechanics combined with solid level design and action - as well as an interesting combination of dungeon exploring and platforming - makes it a very unique game even today!
Its controls aren't the best either, but Kid Icarus is still a pretty fulfilling experience with a very catchy soundtrack!Read full review...

One of the most superior and timeless games of all time.

What can I say about this game?? I played it ever since it came out back in 1987 and I love everything about it -- the music, graphics, and challenge. The play control does take some getting used to especially when you are on the vertical scrolling levels because you can fall down pretty easily. And unlike most games, this game is actually HARDER at the beginning and easier later on. This is a game that will NEVER get old and has one of the best soundtracks. I am ecstatic that they are going to release a DS version of this series -- it was really worth the wait so I cannot wait to see it!Read full review...
