Klein Tools AC Auto-Ranging TRMS Digital Clamp Meter

Been using the CL700 for 1 year now

I purchased the CL700 as an affordable substitute for my main workhorse clamp-on multimeter which was MIA for a short while, and needed a model which could read capacitance.
Overall I have been satisfied with the accuracy of the meter, it reads more accurately than my older units that have been around quite a while. The lighted display is handy to have.
The caveat with the illuminated LCD is that it will turn the back-light off after a certain duration of time, and does not have an option for continuously on until turning the meter off. This is relevant when monitoring equipment operation for troubleshooting purposes.
My one complaint is that the ports for the leads are on the bottom of the meter, and they are straight-plug leads. What this means is that the meter is not able to be stored bottom end down in a toolbag/toolpouch pocket, or is tool long to fit into most zipper pouches without disconnecting the leads. Likewise there is no means to wind up the leads and clip them into place on-board for neat storage.
I use a dedicated zipper pouch for the meter, and have to reconnect/disconnect the leads each time to store it, which is OK for a backup meter, but definitely is not suitable for an primary EDC tool. I'm glad I bought it on ebay and didn't pay full retail price.
The only reason I rounded up to 4 stars is that the clamp has a good spring in it, and the clamp securely closes for taking amperage readings.Read full review

I think this a great product price and quality wise. I particularly like the probe holder which a lot of other meters don't have. I won't have to worry about having to have 3 hands to use it. klein cl 700 digital meter- I was skeptical because the price was so cheap. I am an hvac-r teacher at trade school and have several meters. So I decided to have a meter test off.
