Excellent value in bridge camera, wont fit in your pocket though. 9 of 10

What a bargain! Huge optical zoom lens, high MP, RAW shooting, many features, HDR pics, panorama. Has a large crisp 3" rear LCD, good low light pics, 1080 video with stereo sound and focus/zoom while shooting video and image stabilization. Its all here at a great price. Auto focus on your subject can be a bit tricky when its depth is different from the background and there are many focus points, but that is the only drawback that I have found, just recompose pic with subject in center and then move shot to include background. Nothing a digital photographer has not already employed. Build quality is light, no metal frame or chassis. Much lighter than a "big 3" super zoom bridge camera, but may be more fragile. Strange lens cap diameter, filter selection may need an adapter. Compared to a Olympus C8080: Lighter, faster, better low light performance, longer flash range, longer zoom, bigger screen. Superior in every facet with possible exception of lens brightness.Read full review...

Retro Fun

If you can get a good used price on this camera it is a good beginner camera. Takes some work to get non-flash low light pictures, but can be done. Does offer some fun features, such as the variance of shooting in the old Kodak film types in both color & black & white.Read full review...

Simple easy to use with some good features.

This is a very easy camera to get to know. The main reason that I bought it was the lens. The zoom range for the price. This is such an easy camera to operate that would make ideal for a beginner. I guess Kodak assumed that all you would ever need is
included with the camera as it offers very little insofar as
accessories. I have always like to use a lens shade and
filters with my cameras but such items are not offered by Kodak. Even the view screen in back is in need of a sun shade
and is very hard to view in bright sun.

Best Camera I've ever owned!

Been in photography sine 1974.& this is the best camera I've ever owned! The available light shooting is great. The flash distance is awesome. The only problem I've had was when trying to focus on an object at a distance, with another object in the way. It seems that the focusing circuit gets confused, & the camera locks up. So far, this has only happened indoors in Auto Focus, so I have to see what happens outdoors at distance focus setting. For $55.00 & free shipping, this was a great bargain! Read full review...

GREAT CAMERA

I bought my first Z990 several years ago. After using it awhile I went and bought a second z990 for a backup. I have two young great grandsons, and one of the features I REALLY like is the very short lag time (time between shutter press and actual photo taking. I had been using an expensive Nikon and losing many shots because the instant expression on their face was gone before the NIKON got down to really taking a photo. I tell my wife, "if I can see it this camera can photograph it." The 30X zoom should be adequate for nearly everyone.

A couple of downsides - this camera is heavy, likely around two pounds when loaded with 4 AA batteries. The camera is not designed for screw-in filters, and I like to use them. The camera says "Kodak" on it, and some people consider that to be the mark of an amateur.

When travelling I normally carry a pocket size CANON and the Kodak.

Fun to use as well as easy and takes great pictures.

The price was excellent and the performance of the camera is very very good. I wasn't disappointed. It takes some great shots and the zoom lens was quite nice and easy to use. I have a Kodak Easy Share printer and the film and paper is available once again and I recommend buying one if you can. Read full review...

Kodak z990...a lost treasure!$

For the last year i have gone through dslr's, mirrorless, point and shoot. As i am stricktly picky about image, most were great during the day, but failed at night! I went through full frame, crop sensors, point and shoots...this BSI"back side illuminated"is a marvel at both day and night. Proffesional quality, great zoom, sharp(only optical zoom). In my honest opinion this camera is worth much more then the many i have sent back(Big brand names). In the end, i sent back my $1,500 dslr for this Kodak, and it's the best decision ive made! check out samples the_toothfairy3 InstagramRead full review...

This is a good camera for the money but it is NOT a DSLR.

I bought this camera online without looking at it in person first, so I was expecting a DSLR kind of camera because the ridges on the lense part of the camera made this camera seem like a DSLR. You must know that this is NOT a DSLR Camera. It is a good camera and I like it, but I wish that it would take pictures faster and not take such a long time to focus. Its features are normal and the megapixel's/HD Video can be found in camera's for $100 or less. If you want a DSLR just go for a full on, real DSLR. But if you want a high megapixel and HD Video, this camera is a bit more effecient than cheaper camera's.Read full review...

Good, not great camera overall, it really depends on your needs and budget.

As with most Kodak cameras, this one is a mixed bag. It has many nice pros and not very nice cons noted in hundreds reviews on the Web. Unfortunately, it has some flaws as well.

I gave it "nostalgic" 4 stars, because this is the LAST Kodak made camera, since they have recently filed for bankruptcy.

It can be a great value for the money if you manage to buy it under $150, especially for an amateur photographer or as first high-zoom camera.

For those folks who complained about delays while taking picture, I've found that hitting Display button helps shorten this delay time (kinda "manual" workaround :)

A Very Nice Camera !!!

This camera is probably the last and best easyshare camera that Kodak will ever build. Made just before the cell phone became a camera with quality, this camera has all the features and a zoom lens that casual or professional users would enjoy.Read full review...
