"AMAZING" Box Set from "THE MAN IN BLACK"

It has been said that if Mt. Rushmore could sing, it would sound like Johnny Cash. He was a living legend, and his status has only grown even greater since his passing. Johnny Cash - The Legend 4 CD box set is perhaps the most definitive, at least of his Columbia years, and it's a doozy.

Spanning 4 discs is pretty much the history of American music in the 20th Century...everything from folk, country, blues, soul, rock, patriotic Americana, gospel, novelty...songs from the mountains and the plains and the factories and the fields and the rivers and all points in between.

Johnny could (and did) take any song and make it his. His voice was that of Everyman, a little battered, a little bruised, a little sad, a little mad, a little bent...but never broken, never quitting, mostly hopeful, and oftentimes smiling that crooked smile. This box set does a masterful job of encompassing all of that, and even offers seven previously unreleased gems, such as "When I'm Gray," "Doin' My Time," and the emotionally resonant and wry "It Takes One to Know Me" (an instant classic).

One hopes that Columbia will continue to release all of the albums in their Cash catalog, especially some of his missing 70s and early 80s work. This 4 CD box set is a giant step in the right direction, and will be treasured by music fans of all backgrounds and ages. This is one box set that belongs in EVERY music collection.

Very Solid Anthology of The Man In Black

This is a high-quality CD set of 4 CD in a case with a black & white insert briefly explaining the Cash story with photos. I bought this because I wanted a specifically a half dozen songs for my collection. I could have gotten them elsewhere, but since all the songs I needed was in this collection, I just decided to get this one. All the major Cash hits are here in high quality stereo. There are a dozen or so songs that have a religious tone and are sloooow. Too slow for me, but everyone has his own liking, right? I really enjoy the wide range of songs in the collection. There were still plenty of other songs that tickled my fancy. All these songs sound as if I was hearing them for the firt time because the quality is superb. Buying this CD pack would save you money not having to buy multiple CDs to get the same amount of music for your money. Some of these songs include June Carter. The song "A Thing Called Love" was a major hit and I could not find it on other CDs. That was one deciding factor for buying this. If someone is a "hard-core" Cash fan, then this would be right up your alley as a MUST HAVE collection. Enjoy your music as much as I do.

This is a great Johnny Cash selection music from his huge catalogue. If you want to have an excellent selection without buying a bunch of albums etc., this is a great choice.

Johnny Cash is one of the best singers ever and this is the best set to be put together in one set. Brand new this set is almost $60.00 and i got it on ebay for half of that price. I would also have to say that there is nothing that i dislike about this set. With all the differnt cd's that are out there i would have to recommened this set for any Cash fan you won't be disappionted.

Legendary Man in Black

Amazing man... a legend, an Icon in music and in life. Very pleased to have the 4 disc package in my collection. Songs I've never heard before, refreshing early recorded sound of Johnny Cash and others. I love the voice of Johnny Cash, tortured and true. This is a dramatic description, and even this is an understatement. The man went through so much in life. Enclosed in the 4 disc pkg is an album of history w/pictures of Johnny and other recording artists. I don't know of any other music artist that can compare to Johnny Cash.
