Not Their Best Compilation, In My Opinion

Although their 2 main hits "Lies" and "One Track Mind" are included on this CD, overall, it is not as good as the Sundazed 20 Classic Tracks product. There are some songs such as "Harlem Nocturne", "Twine Time", etc., which are not only not that good, in my opinion, but also give a disjointed feeling to this CD. The Knickerbockers had a very unique and Beatle-esque sound which made them very attractive to their fans, however, they also put out a number of songs which were quite antithetical to that sound, so that you have this CD that sounds like different bands playing different styles of music; and thus a very disjointed overall sounding CD. The Sundazed production presents The Knickerbockers in a more Beatle-esque light, and more uniformly sound. With this CD,I find myself skipping the less appealing songs and playing the better sounding ones much more often. Overall, I give The Very Best of The Knickerbockers: Lies, three stars based on the songs I like, and the outstanding musical talent of the band.Read full review...
