Great home update

Great use as the dual band gives options. I relabeled SSID and passwords. Using the USB port on back with a multi GB flash drive for music and some quick photo storage and sharing for project. Also back up on external HDD, but leave what I want to use. Unsure on the maximum readable drive size of the USB, since a external drive did not get recognized. Maybe a power issue. Otherwise we'll usable and I am still receiving 66mbs DL speed with this. Connection to router with Ethernet cable, not wifi, foes read at GB speeds, if you device can process that fast, but is worthy of a great thumbs up.Read full review...

A good device for a high tech home usage

The simultaneous dual wireless net works very good. Despite the internal antennas, the 2.4G range is even better than my old Dlink DIR 300 router which have an external 5dbi antenna.
The file transfer to USB is a good feature, supports NTFS, but the speed is a real issue. Transfer large files like movies is annoying, but it can work fine to backup things like photos or docs on a external device.
The DLNA server is no good, works fine with 700MB AVI files, but fails to work with 720p / 1080p videos; a lot of codecs are not supported also.
In my opinion, to be 'the' device, it needed a built-in modem, a better DLNA server, improve the USB transfer speed and add printer capability.
I will try it latter after upgrading the internal OS to DD-WRT.

The "War Tank" of Home Based networking

This is, by far, the best home product Cisco have ever designed and produced.

I bought this product after reading its specs on Cisco website. After my loyal Trendnet TEW finally stopped working, this was the better option: Since I use constantly apps like skype, netflix, Xbox Live and normally had to keep a PC on use to maintain my data shared to my home network, I needed some heavy artillery. And this product is, by far, the best option. Two ranges helps you keep a strong WiFi signal; lets you use this router in a WPA Enterprise environment; filters the broadband to keep your main apps running (yes, I've experienced the torture of talking to skype in an important business appointment with bad quality because your moron brother is watching some nasty HD porn). Also, the USB Port is a very useful thing: I use a 500 GB USB disk attached to it with excellent results.

Highly recomended!! Just a recomendation, read carefully the manual and call the Cisco Info Line to get help on configuration.

Dependable product. Spend the money and get the BEST!

I was looking for a new router to replace my old draft N wireless router. I came across this sleek little number with 2 different bands, network 450 Mbps transfer speed and usb connectivity for printers/peripheral devices. My old unit kept dropping out and reconnecting during peek hours or high usage. I do some gaming and also run a game server from time to time and need something that is reliable and my old system just wasn't cutting it. This Linksys E4200 has been living up to its hype. Data transfer has been seamless and constant while my online activities have been running non-interrupted since I started using this equipment. Although the price is still high I don't believe there is a similar featured item out there as yet, so your getting the best available and most reliable item on the market today. I haven't found anything to complain about, minus the price, and I've only been running it for about a month, but if it keeps up its' current performance I'll remain a happy customer. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who uses high bandwidth and it's very good for streaming video wirelessly from my computer to the TV.Read full review...

This is a very powerful router and is worth every penny!

I started looking into a different router when Charter Communications made 100Mbps available in my area, because my old router was 5 years old and couldn't broadcast that high of a speed. I spent countless hours researching different routers, before I decided to try the E4200 out. I spent another week looking for the best price and happened to stumble across a manufacturer refurbished model through Cisco's Ebay page. Since it was about half the price of the new model, I purchased it.

I upgraded my modem to a Motorola Surfboard 6120 and setup both the new modem and router today. It took me several hours to get my new network set up, but I don't think it was the router's fault (Charter Communications has major issues, especially when switching modems).

I did a speed test through 3 different sites/programs and had an average of 90.3Mbps. Speeds were within 1 Mb of each other when I bypassed the router or used the router. I also want explain that I use a network with 3 computers, 3 smart phones (Android), 2 PS3s, and 1 Wii... Even with that big of a network using 6 of the devices at once, I am still averaging between 45 and 50 Mbps wirelessly on the computers, and 20 to 25 Mbps on the phones! It's a great product.

Great router with great support, you can not go wrong.

I bought this E4200 to replace my old router. I wanted something that would support my growing home network. After some research, I decided to buy this E4200. Cisco makes great products and compared to other brands, I was excited to give this one a try.

I set it up within minutes. Just connect your router and run the provided cd. I had all of my wired and wireless devices up and running. The 2.4GHz band has great coverage.
I was able to get my tv set up on the 5GHz band pretty quick and it works amazing.

Setting up my 1TB external hard drive was a breeze also. File sharing is faster than before and the built in Giga switch makes a big difference in transfer speeds between devices.

Over all, between the router and the ease of the Cisco setup software, I couldn't be happier.

Nice router with some limitations.

Good performance but setup can be a bit tricky if you're using older bridges. Can't make the guest account a different name from the router name. (Shows up as whatever your router name is followed by "guest".) Pretty useless to hide your SSID since you can easily deduce it from the guest account name that can't be hidden. Guest account has to log in each time on a browser page which forces you have to use your main network for perpherals (like DVD players and game consoles) you'd normally prefer to have isolated.Read full review...

Cisco E4200 router - 5 Star rating (*****). I highly recommend it!

The Cisco E4200 router has clean lines, a cool look and is easy to setup. It is a definate upgrade from my old Linksys WRT-110. The E4200 is dual band, 2.4GHZ and 5.0GHZ, the range is a little better than the WRT-110, but using the less crowded 5.0GHZ band really seems to improve my speed. I have one wired computer, three wireless laptop computers, one Blackberry Playbook tablet, one Kindle and three cellphones using the router at different times; the E4200 easily handles the device load. The router also allows me to connect a USB hard drive directly to the router's USB port, which is great. I attached a 500 GB Seagate GO drive, it is visible to all the computers and with the tremendous speed (router to computer) I can stream music and movies to all of the computers...I have not yet figured out how to sent the data to the BlackBerry Playbook tablet yet.Read full review...

Very nice product, great value!

I purchased this unit to upgrade from a Netgear wireless preN unit, which worked well, but was subject to glitches at times, and was technologically challenged. The Linksys E4200 is a very nice wireless router, and after much research, my unit of choice.
Very simple to set up. Speed seems to be very fast. I am at about 1.5 Mbps download speed, and .77 Mbps upload speed with my DSL through my Dell Studio 1737 laptop with the Intel i7 core processor and 8Gigs of ram.
The security features are easy to navigate, with the handy guest network function to allow your guests to have wireless access with a simple, separate password, or none at all.
My Evo android phone Wifi linked into the guest network with ease. At this point I see nothing less than perfect. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for the top of the line wireless home/small business solution, at a great price, in 2011.
