Great engines. Solid poewer for beginers and old heads.

This is the same engine that I received for Christmas 1948 when I was not quite three years old. I have a fair number of them and can't seem to turn one down when they are reasonably priced, lol. Excellent runners and will pull a far sized train.

Better for display than running

I assumed this engine had magnetraction but it does not. The engine cannot get started without slipping on the rails, even with no cars attached. With a light load it of course slips even more. Not very practical for a layout but at least looks nice on a shelf.Read full review...

prewar lionel 2 6 2

this model shows the quality in mid century american toys, using metals that would not appear in toy locomotives until recently. the high quality, attention to detail are a record of american made products in all u s manufacturing even now. also, no computerised distraction. exquisite precision, to a 'prairie design' that was found on all railroads.Read full review...

Lionel 1666 prewar Prarie engine

I love this engine! Quite basic, yet it has nice details like a 3 piece bell, eccentric rods, marker jewels, hand rails, nickel trimmed wheels, separately applied Whistle and a dependable motor. Brings back memories for sure.Read full review...

Worked out great for me, just what I was looking for.

It worked out great for me. It had a couple of pieces missing on one side but I used it in a static display to replace my 1946 engine that was only about 80% th

Lionel 1666 engine C-6 awesome engine!

This 1946 Lionel 1666 2-6-2 engine has very little paint loss, is complete & runs great. For a 71 year old engine, it is pretty amazing.
