Life of Liszt through 70s Spectacles Made of Cheese
Interesting mid-70s film that I was thrilled to finally see after years of curiosity. As with other Ken Russell films ("Tommy"), it's thoughtful and cheesy, often at the same time. It considers the basic facts of the life of Liszt, and the afterlife of his legacy, but through very allegorical eyes and a mindset of 70s rock star fandom. Indeed, the cast has several - Roger Daltrey, Ringo Starr, Rick Wakeman. Sometimes the analogies and references are painfully blunt, but it's nevertheless an interesting 70s period piece and take on Liszt.Read full review...
