not my Generations woodstock / maybe close enough

The price, $54 for a used DVD set of four, is much more than I normally like to spend. However, after watching the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)' that led up to Queens Live Aid performance, I became motivated to put out the cash. And yes, the real-life Queen performance really did kick some butt at Live Aid! I was 24 back in 1985 and did see some of Live Aid on TV. Didn't really do much for me at the time. Watching the DVD now 34 years later is very entertaining. For example, I never was much into Madonna, but she did very well at Live Aid! The performances, sound, video etc are not perfect or whatever; yet somehow I am really happy with the DVD production / awesome! And there is something about seeing the musicians/celebrities when they were also younger (like me / the good old days??!). Recently I noticed Chevy Chase in a movie where he is so old now he stood there and just smiled.... at Live Aid he introduced a few acts and it's like 'wow, soooo nice to see Chevy as I remember..' Summary - Live Aid is not the Woodstock of my generation; maybe close enough.Read full review...

A Riveting Event!

I can still vividly recall sitting in my parents living room as a 14 year old, watching "Live Aid" happen. I was absolutely riveted to the scene, not simply by the music, but by the cause that had drawn the world together. For me, "Live Aid" became the catalyst for a growing sense of social responsibility that would move me toward a life of service ... and, even now as I watch it, those same emotions and that same spirit of hopeful optimism that I experienced as a youth flood back to me. Of special note are the performances by U2 and Phil Collins (the only performer to appear live in both England and the USA), Black Sabbath and Eric Clapton as well as the videos for "Do They Know It's Christmas" and "We Are the World." In all, this is a fantastic package that captures not only an event, but an era in music and will be wonderful addition to any music lovers DVD library. Enjoy!Read full review...

Live Aid - What a ride!!!

A great concert event. QUEEN stole the show. This was the best of all the benefit shows ever and it was from 1985 on July 13th.
I love that they showed you the music videos leading up to the concert. I remember events from the concert but it was nice to see it again. Many great artists including Queen,Elton John,Phil Collins,Sting,Madonna and Patti Labelle. AWESOME!!! Ten minutes that stands as a great highlight. But as I said before, Queen steals the show.
If you never seen the concert then it is a must to have. It is a keepsake. You will not be sorry that you got it.

A great buy in entertainment from some artists that can never be replaced.

Awesome collection of classic music, artists, and collaborations. Sound quality is better than expected and filming is excellent and from many different vantage points. Four discs so there are many hours of fine entertainment. Very well done.Read full review...

Capturing a Slice of Some of the Best Musical Artists Performing Their Best

Even over 30 years later, this is an incredible day for music. The performances are phenomenal- among the best of many of America and the UK's most talented musicians at the time. The recording is very good for the time and the sound is good for the technology available at the time. Most of all, it's FUN! Watching the recordings of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and "We Are the World", the colorful fashions of the time, so many classic stars in their early years ("Hello, Mullet Bono!"), everyone having a blast! Sit back and enjoy, whether it's a nostalgic journey or a discovery of the best bands and musical artists at their best! Read full review...

Live Aid DVD

This dvd is awesome! It is from Live Aid from the 80's when a group of talented performers put on one of the world's largest concert to end hunger in Africa. It is very timely now with Bono and the red movement. These are 4 dvd's which include live performances from Eric Clapton, U2, the Who, Sting, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Neil Young, and many, many more. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this release are donated to the Band Aid Trust which continues to fund hunger relief in the Third World.Read full review...
