Classic Western - Outstanding in Blu ray format!

This is a great epic western with indelible performances from Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones and the rest of the cast. Even if you've viewed the DVD edition, you will truely be impressed with the Blu ray release with its great, sharp vibrant picture quality. Since this was a 1988 production, it does not offer the advanced audio formats of current Blu ray films, but the Dolby Digital sound is still excellent. Well worth owning!Read full review...

Classic Western

I did not see the mini-series when it first ran on tv but now wish that I had. This is one of the all-time great Westerns-with superb acting, directing, & cinematography. The characters are fully developed and not the cardboard cliches often dished out in mini-series and Westerns. The blu-ray copy is vivid and makes the images seem fresh and new. My only qualm with this picture (and it's a very small one) is the ending in the last episode. It left you expecting another chapter when there was not one forthcoming. All in all, my advice is to buy a copy and revel in its riches.Read full review...

I've always considered this film, one of the greatest westerns ever made. The quality of the Blu-ray video and sound is very good. Despite the movie's age, money and time well spent.

Greatest made for Television Movie ever produced!

I loved this series when it was first released but Blu-ray takes it to a whole new level!

When released in 1989 it was made for tv and the sets were so small you didn't get an idea of the expanse and depth of the story. Now in Blu-ray it just makes the entire story bigger. What a wonderful movie and in BR its just better.
