Story of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.. surprisingly great movie!

I never thought about watching a Beach Boys movie, but this was a pleasant surprise. The movie focused mainly on the problems Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys had with mental illness, and how he came through some tortures done to him by an abusive Psychiatrist. I don't rate a lot of movies with 5 stars, but I watched this movie a few times, and ordered it in BluRay. It is now one of my favorites. I really can't begin to describe the complexities of what Brian Wilson went through, but this movie explains it pretty well. The movie itself is very entertaining, especially since many of the Beach Boys songs are performed. It brought back memories..

One of the Best Movies in 25 Years

I am a movie critic and filmmaker. I am very picky about the movies I watch and tend to like. The movies over the last 20 years have been pretty bad for the most part, largely because of Marvel and the lack of compelling real characters. Also, feminism has destroyed the male lead role and thus most main characters are more annoying than the antagonists. I am a fan of John Cusack and have been since the '80s. So I went into this movie with a grain of salt, but I was so compelled right off the bat. The story is based on real interviews with Brian Wilson which makes the movie even more compelling. And it was so well done. You actually get to be Brian Wilson in the movie, and as a creative writer myself I'm showing my parents this movie just so hopefully they can understand me better. Three movies in the last 20 years have really compelled me - Gran Torino, American Sniper, and now Love and Mercy. Read full review
