Probably, this is what you're looking for

Having used diffirent snare drums (pearl chad smith signature, tama superstar, etc.), I was pretty surprised by this one. Very flexible yet easy to tune, its tone is what I was looking for. It sound a bit dry but not dead, very perceptive dynamically and powerful. I tried diffirent tunings and ceased choosing on pretty high one, and drum keeps being very deep. Indeed, it's rimshots are powerful, but probably this is special about this drum. Playing weird combination of some shoegazinglack metal stuff and combining it with some funkyprog rythms, this drum suits me well, and I can't imagine to use any other drum right now. Also, if you're looking for a good deal, I have to say, that 'used, but in mint condition' meant 'absolutely new' to me.
I wish every drum was so satisfying as this one.
Thank you for reading!

Great Snare in Mint Condition

I have been looking for this snare for a while. This add had a lot of great, up close photos which made my decision easy. The drum was everything it was advertised to be. After a little tlc cleaning of finger prints/ smudges, I agree it is MINT. This one is a keeper for me and I am sure my grandson's will enjoy it too one day. Great Snare Very Fair Price.Read full review

One of the best damn snare drums ever!

I have around 25 snare drums in every material possible--different woods, steel, brass, aluminum--and this one meets all the criteria. An aluminum alloy, it's lighter than steel or brass, but it's loud when I want it, crisp and rings with sharp rim shots. It's the most recorded snare drum in Rock and Roll history and was made famous in this size as the snare favored by John Bonham in Led Zeppelin.Read full review

Perhaps the most recorded and iconic snare that’s ever been!

Amazing drum. I’ve had experience with the instrument for many years. This is my fifth 402, overall, but the first time I’ve had two at the same time. The other one is “AVH’ed.” Incredible tone and presence. If there was only one snare I could own, it would be a 402. :-)Read full review

Ludwig lm402

This snare has the crack and presence you always heard in your head or on the radio but couldnt find in other drums made w diff materials, wood, brass, bronze, you name it. Its the best feeling snare to play because when your in a groove it pays dividends with each smack.
Def try it out, if you dont like it you can easily sell it, but you wont want to.

Best snare I have ever owned.

This is the snare to judge all other snares by. The tone emminated by the solid aluminum shell is clear and wonderful. If you really moon gel your snare a bunch then you will miss out on some of its intended beauty.
This drum sounds great at low medium and high tunings.
She is a very sensitive drum responding well to every nuance as subtle as it may be. The rim shot can be loud, piercing and even biting if need be. A good all around drum for most genres of music. Since a drum sound is built around a snare I suggest investing in the Ludwig Supraphonic. You won't regret it.

Why did I wait so long?

This drum does not disappoint. Except the classic but old fashioned snare throw, which Ludwig should update. But I love the sound, the adaptability and the dynamics of this drum. Ive bought and sold any number of cheaper snares over the years trying to find this sound for less money. It cant be done. I should have bought an LM 402 20 years ago.Read full review

Ludwig LM402 Supraphonic Snare Drum 6.5 x 14

The drum is awesome. My only beef is that it doesn't have a tone control, but that can be fixed easily with the Gibraltar hoop mount control.

Supra

What can I say. It's the most famous snare for a reason. Sound is virtually perfect. I was told it was a used model, like new and it was brand new. Looks perfect. Very Very pleased.
