Good Mixer, Well Built but Horrific Effects!

In a previous life as a sound guy I had a Behringer 12-channel with built-in effects. I no longer do sound work but as a hobby for parties, events, etc. I break out the pro gear and annoy the neighbors. I bought this as a lower cost alternative to the Behringer Xenyx. I am happy with the mixer itself and the amount of functionality they crammed into an 4-channel unit (phantom power, Tape In/Out, Effects, Monitor, Phones, etc. BUT ... the effects are terrible! You can only barely utilize the first 25% of the effect knob on any given channel or it becomes so overbearing you don't even know what effect it even is. It is built like a tank and easy to use as a mixer but if you are buying it for the effects, look elsewhere. Needless to say mine will go back forsale and I will spend the money on the Xenyx. I would imagine the effects have not changed in the past 10 years and they were killer back then!Read full review...

Small, Mighty package! I have the ProFX8, PROFX12 and now the ProFX4. They all sound exactly the same. Clean, crisp clear quality sound. Mackie, in my opinion is the way to go for live and recording applications. Mackie profx4v2 is the best...ever.

I use to have a mackie profx8, behringer, allen heath, soundcraft notepad and an alto live8 that all sound good, but the mackie profx4v2 sounds outstanding. Now, I own two of them. The v2 is a hard to find mixer now and only a few speculates on the v3. And if the v2 is available, I tell you, it will be expensive compared to its orig market value.Read full review...
