Madden NFL 09 (Xbox 360)

The graphics in this game are good. They need to add more tackles beacause it just gets old after a while. Graphics on the fans in the stands needs a little help, they look all messed up. There is not as much body warping as in earler Madens but the problem does still pop up every now and then. On fiels condition are very good in graphics and players look very good.
Gameplay/Controls 9.9
Gameplay controls are simple. Even if you have just started to play Madden it is very easy to learn and is self explanatory. There is help with all the controlls so you don't have to stop everything and refer to the manual while in the middle of a game. New Madden players may have a little trouble with the punt or field goal controlls but gets very easy around the 3rd try.
New Features 7.8
The new big feature this year is Madden backtrack. My personal opinion on this is that it is horrible. Making the big mistake is what the fun of Madden is all about. It can make a lose into a win in the touch of a button. This feature makes the game very unrealistic and very predictable. I personally never play with it. Some people do like to win all the time though so some people love the new feature.

Madden 09
So Madden has been the pinnacle of video football games for the past 10 to 12 years. Madden 09 blows me away, on how realistic this can look. I'm sure everyone knows how all the stuff works and all the pluses to the game so i'll tell you the bad stuff. Its not easy to find a fake kick if thats what your into. One Of The Best Madden Games Yet..
Big improvement in the Madden series. Graphics are much more realistic. Gameplay is even more realistic. In the older Madden's when running with the ball you could simply hold turbo and juke and break away, but not in 09. This really separates the good Madden players from the bad. You have to have skill to be able to play and win.
Neat new features like Madden IQ. I like that the different parts of the game adjust to your personal level of skill and after each game you IQ can improve or decrease. Super Star mode is pretty much the same. Fantasy draft is back for franchises. Online gaming is much better in both Madden 09 & NCAA Football 09 with the addition of 'online leagues.' In Madden 09 you can have an online league with up to 32 total players and 11 games plus playoffs, this is a great features that brings the video game experience totally to a new level.
Virtual Trainer is neat, helps you understand the game and what to do in certain situations. Backtrack is cool, but when your trying to play and it comes up it sometimes gets annoying. Passing is more difficult, not as simple and easy as before. EA Rewind is helpful if your trying to improve your gaming abilities. If you make a mistake or would like to retry a play you can rewind. This can help not so good players learn from their mistakes and improve. The new touchdown celebrations are better than 08. They get boring quick, but are a cool improvement and make celebrating a TD more interesting, like the slam dunk.
There are only 25 achievements to get. I got mine within about 10 hours total of gameplay in under one week. They are things like TD celebrations, 10 receptions with 1 player, 50+ yard FG, and so on. I have a blog describing each of them and how to get them at: www.muzikblog.today.com
There are team based ones also like get 300 rushing yards with the Jets.
One thing that I do not like at all is that for some stupid reason they changed one buttons feature. In Madden 08 'RB' button was a receiver button and 'LB' was pump fake. But in 09 they decided to switch them, why? It is hard to adjust to and has cost me some plays. That is just something EA shouldn't touch and leave alone.

Fun football game.
I thoroughly enjoy the game, but also can find it very difficult and frustrating at times. I went through the new Madden IQ Test, but still found it much too easy to pass and score and nearly imposible to stop the pass and the other team from scoring even when knowing the play! The running game has been nearly non-existent while the passing game has been over the top. I'm sure much of this has to do with my skill level, but it's been apparent with everyone that's played. The same as Madden 08 (better hits in career mode?)
I love the Madden Games. I found that Madden 09 was not much different then Madden 08. I have not spent that much time on Career mode where I hear there is a big difference in the hits as they are bigger and better. The graphics of the game are really good and I only have an average T.V. to play it on (not sure how much of a difference that makes....if any. The online play is fun and it is really easy and quick to find an online opponent which I have had issues with in other online games. All in all it is a good game but I am not sure how many changes were made by EA with the exception of the team rosters lol.Read full review...
Football
The last time I played the game was 89, and much has changed. Many options. Kool graphics. You can create your own teams and players. There's like 50 different controller commands. I've been playing this for a week, and I still don't think I ever made contact with my defensive player I was controlling. These new games are so complicated, and I don't have the time to invest to master it. What ever happened to simple games like Pac-Man???Read full review...
Next Gen Tries Too Hard
First off, the game looks fantastic. Madden is the football franchise. However, I was a bit disappointed at how clunky the gameplay feels. Maybe I'm just adjusting from PS2, but it is actually quite hard. And I would play ps2 at All-Madden. I imagine I will improve with practice. One complaint about the game and not my skill level is the training in general, more specifically the bench press and 40-yard dash. Both are crazy hard, and don't give you much of a boost. The looks do not disappoint, and it is entertaining as ever, but not much has changed from last year. IQ isn't all that cool.Read full review...
Madden NFL 09
Madden NFL 09 is a very exciting football game. In my opinion the best Madden to date. It's very nice having a game that plays to your skill level. Normally I played these games and either i'd try Pro skill and just get clobbered, so then i'd put it on easy and i'd be creaming the opposition 70+ to nothing. Graphics are great and the commentary is alot less reppetative than normal Maddens. 8 out of 10 for me.Read full review...
Madden 09 Xbox 360
I stayed up until midnight to get this game as I am a big Madden fan. And I'm not dissapointed by this decision, as it is a great game.
There are a few changes in this new version of Madden. One big one is the ES Sports back-track, which comes up after a play that you throw an interception or an incomplete pass. It will show you what you did wrong, and what you should have done.
Another change that I'm not very fond of is the REWIND feature. This makes it so that if you do something wrong, you can press "X" after the play and do the play all over again. Before the game you can decide if you want 0, 1, 3, 5, or Unlimited rewinds.
There are many unique and fun touchdown celebrations that you can do by pressing "Y" and "B" in the endzone after you score.
Other than that, there aren't many changes, and its just going to be another great Madden game (you can't go wrong with Madden).
The change from Madden 07 to Madden 08 was a much bigger change than the one from Madden 08 to madden 09. Still, Madden 09 is a great game.
And for all you achievement lovers out there, the achievements aren't very hard, and I can guarentee you'll get 1000/1000. I had 350 or so after one night of play, not even trying that hard to get them.

What's Wrong with Madden?
I have never played a Madden game this bad, and I have been playing Madden since 2004. First of all, the screen is always so dark, it's almost depressing.
This next part I will go into more detail about. The game experience is the worst ever from Madden. When the players run, it is far from realistic. EA Sports Backtrack is just pathetic. If you throw a pick they go back and try and tell you who you "should have" thrown the ball to. At least half the time they are double or triple covered and are by no means "open". Then there's the TD celebrations. There are about 3 of them and they get old really quick. Finally, the tackling is as bad as the running, far from realistic.
Now I'll talk about the dynasty mode. This is always my favorite part of any football game. But it is just pitiful in Madden 09. Once again, the screen is very dark and some of the controls are questionable. When you want to see positions on your roster, you press RB or LB and scroll through. Not a big deal, but it was better the old way. Trading for decent value is almost impossible. You always are getting ripped off in trades. Also, during the season you can scout prospects for the next years draft. It does nothing and it takes forever to do. This leads me into my final point concerning dynasty. The draft leaves a lot to be desired. None of the players are good and there is no way to prepare for the draft. You pretty much walk in blind.
