Man of the House (DVD, 2005)

This movie could easily be renamed Every Middle Aged Mans Dream. Roland Sharp (Tommy Lee Jones) is a fifty something year old, no-nonsense Texas Ranger who has been assigned to protect five beautiful young cheerleaders from the University of Texas who witnessed a murder. A female Ranger was shot and killed in an operation to protect a witness, and then the witness is was killed. Sharp and his men have been assigned to protect the lives of these girls who witnessed the murder, and who's lives are now in danger. Under the disguise of a cheer coach, Roland moves into a house babysitting these beautiful babes. It is a total culture clash with this older man in such close contact with these young girls. Little things like running around half dressed, super comfortable clothing, you know, the kind of thing that would make an older man go nuts! Sharp must see that they are escorted to classes, no cell phones, no dates, or contact with boyfriends, etc. He is looked upon ad a hero by the pizza delivery guy who cant believe that anyone could be so lucky to live with this bevy of girls. Through cheer class and peprallies, and football games they must be protected and their identities protected. Sharp gets asked out by a lady professor, Molly (Anne Archer) and he need a lot of help on how to act. The girls take him on as a project trying to play matchmaker. Another cop, a young FBI man, who was a friend of Sharp, goes after Sharp's seventeen year old daughter. There was a large amount of money confiscated by Sharp and his guys, and this FBI guy is dirty and wants the money. To get his daughter back, he has to go to the border and give him the money. The girls all spring into action to help. Showing off their athletic abilities and a lot of spunk, they slow the process down enough for Sharp to bust the guy and save his daughter too. Sharp and Molly are married at the end of the movie. This was a cute movie and a lot of fun. The girls were also very easy on the eye too! You'll like this one.Read full review...

Great movie

This is one of my favorite movies due to Tommy Lee Jones. He has the skills to do comedy frequently playing the straight man.

I just wish I could find it in Blu-ray or 4K definition

Honor meets Fun

This classic picture with Tommy Lee Jones is a great story and to see him portray a Texas Ranger that allows himself to enjoy the comedy side plus reunite with his estranged daughter just completes the happy ending in this well written story.Read full review...

Man of the House - 2005 DVD

Man of the House is a 2005 comedy crime film starring Tommy Lee Jones as a Texas Ranger. This is one of the funninest comedy movies I have watch. Tommy Lee Jones is Sharp who is given the thankless task protecting a group of cheerleaders, who have witnessed a murder. Sharp moves in with the girls and the two young FBI men with him move into the fraternity house across the street, where they end up busting a drug deal. Sharp sets some ground rules, including no cell phones. He also tells them to "cover up in his presence" referring to the girls' revealing clothes. When they refuse, he orders an air conditioner, forcing them to dress warmly. Sharp is posing as a cheerleading coach specializing in conditioning, and at a football game he tackles an opposing team's mascot when the mascot approaches the girls with a gun, later revealed to be a water gun. Other humorous mishaps occur (I’m not telling) but Sharp's relationship with the girls begins to strengthen. Much of the movie was shot in Austin, Texas on the University of Texas campus. Texas Governor Rick Perry has a cameo appearance in the film as himself. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence, sexual content, crude humor, and a drug reference.Read full review...

Light entertainment

If you are looking for a relatively family friendly movie that is just fun to watch and doesn't require much thought, this is a good choice. The movie has lots to offer, humor, light action, italian-style western bravado (ala Texas Ranger) and big name actors. Cedric was funny and Tommy Lee actually smiles a few times. I liked it, good to take your mind off the problems of the world for an hour and a half, and isn't that a good reason to watch a movie? A few spots of mild profanity.Read full review...

Man of the House

This is another one of those films I thought I was going to hate... thank god for Epic Movie, it has allowed me laugh at films I would've never found funny.

Tommy Lee Jones is incredibly funny and the cheerleaders are hot. What more can you ask for???

Final Verdict?:

4/5

Worth Buying?: Definitely worth buying for Boys and Girls (and for different reasons)
