Very Good Game

Very good game! Minigames are always a blast to play (especially in the car!) and have amazing replay value. Strongly recommend to any body who has a Nintendo DS/lite/i/XL/3DS and likes the Mario franchise as a whole! Like always, Bowser is the antagonist and it's up to Mario, Luigi, Wario, and the rest of the gang to save the day! Read full review...

Mario Party DS, mini-sized gaming.

Mario Party DS, like the rest of the Mario Party bunch, is a series of Mario-themed board games where four players, either human or computer AI, roll the dice and wander the field scoring points and competing in challenges of action or chance. The Nintendo DS version is one of the first games to feature an overall "theme" to its universe: all the heroes have been shrunk down (by Bowser, of course), and the board designs and all of the mini-games put this idea to use. Players will wander around enormous gardens, libraries…even a giant pinball machine and compete in challenges that take place in sinks, remote-controlled toy cars, kitchen tables. Watch out for the vacuum cleaner that'll suck you up like a little bug.Read full review...

Solid portable MP with its own charm.

Decently-Solid Mario Party game. The only handheld version in the series. Board design could be better. Only 2 of the 5 boards play with regular "20-coin-moving-star" rules. Story is unique but very short and simple. Unlockables are present but only used to look at. Mini-games are great! Some are easier than others yet the DS's dual screen, mic, and touch capabilities are used nicely. Some 2v2 games have terrible to amazing AI so is sometimes unpredictable. Collect coins, trade for stars. "Free item" spaces along with underground shops where you can buy and dump up to 3 items. If you enjoy MP 4 and 5 the DS version will feel fairly comfortable. Nice extras and multi-player options as well. A minor disappointment overall.Read full review...

EXCELLENT! This is one fun P-A-R-T-Y!!

SUMMARY
Overall, this is an excellent game. HINT: It should be noted that you don't have to save, but the game saves automatically every time you complete a minigame (this is true in story mode as well). So when you want to quit, just play the mini game (that always occurs) at the end of the turn, wait until the end of it, and when you see the board again turn it off. Or, if the current game isn't going well, just turn the system off and you'll start that one turn over again (providing you've played at least one turn and minigame by this point). If you like this game, look into Mario Party 7. Party on!

LIKES:
1. Most of the minigames are fun and addictive.
2. Most of the minigames are hillarious! They really took advantage of the fact you're tiny. Rubber Ducky Rodeo anyone?
3. The boards are fun, with various traps and rules to keep you from being bored.
4. Some of the bosses may be challenging, but not to the point of frustration. They're relatively simple once you get the hang of it, and they're quite a bit of fun themselves.
5. Unlike Mario Party 7, you don't have to buy your rewards with milage points. All you do is get a certain number of points to get rewarded with something. This saves time, and helps keep away repetition.
6. The boss trophies are comical.
7. The mini games take great advantage of the stylus and the mike.

DISLIKES:
1. Not enough female characters. Out of all eight characters, only two are female. While this topic is on the table, there aren't as many characters (male or female) to choose from as Mario Party 7.
2. Some mini games require luck. I don't like this much.
3. Some mini games just stink, and others require you to work with a COM or two (if you're playing solo). While these minigames can be fun, If your luck is bad, and your partner/partners stink, you may be in trouble. That's just not fair.
4. There are certain spaces on the game boards where you get five coins while someone else gets five coins. You get to choose who you want to be your friend. When I'm playing and someone else lands on such a space, I'm never their friend... Besides, giving coins to a COM opponent is just silly.

The Story:
It's raining sky crystals, and one falls near Mario. The next day, Mario tells all of his friends about it. During this gathering, Kamek brings an interesting note from Bowser. Apparently, Bowser wants to apologize for being a jerk, and throw a big feast for the crew. Who could resist? In other words, the characters aren't that bright (I mean, come on! Would you really go to a villain's house for dinner? Bowser has kidnapped Peach herself at least a dozen times!), and they accept the invitation. The invitation was an elaborate trap, as a big cage falls over the crew, as they arrive. Using his sceptor, Bowser shrinks the crew into "Mini" heroes, takes the sky crystal they have, and wisks them away. Now, everyone wants to be the hero, and this is where you come in: play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, or Toad, and travel through a garden, a piano room, a jungle, a library, and Bowser's own lair. Your goals are to outshine the other heroes, collect all of the sky crystals, and defeat Bowser once and for all. Good luck!

Great game on a great system.

This game is amazing, the best mario party in the series. It's playable anywhere, has a good story mode, you can play with four friends from only one game card, and the mini games are amazing. Definitely pick this one up.Read full review...

The price was better then the store. Great product!! You would love it!!!!!

Great game!!!! The storyline was intresting. I would say this game is as good as Mario Party 1 or 2. You can play in storymode, play the minigames you have unlocked, look at stuff you have won in the gallery, play mario puzzles, and many more. You can play as 8 charaters: Mario Luigi, Wario, Yoshi, Peach, Daisy, Waluigi, and Toad. There is even a multiplayer mode were you can play your friends. Not to mention the awesome title screen. Last of all, in storymode, if you win, you get to battle a boss, and if you don't you have to do the board again. The boss depends on the board. Overall the is pretty awesome. I can't tell you everything. You have to play the game the discover another segment of the Mario Party series.Read full review...

Mario Part DS

Similar to the games for N64 and Game Cube. A nice variety of mini-games, as well as a good use of the features the DS has. It is a good rendering of this type of game on a hand-held system. It is usable by multiple players with separate DS systems while only 1 game card is necessary.Read full review...

As an OG of Mario Party, I can honestly say that this game is a total success. I was very entertained and it makes the time go by quick on a road trip. The mini games are fun and the maps are well made.Read full review...

Good for a few days, then gets boring.

I purchased this game to play in my offtime at work, and it was great for that. It isn't the worst Mario Party I've ever played, but the last board of the story mode feels like you're intentionally getting bad rolls, random effects, or outrageous mini game scenarios that are designed to make you lose. I beat the first 4 boards in one go, and played the last board over 20 times to attempt to beat it. Up until that point it was a pleasant experience. The difficulty ramp from board 4 to 5 is ridiculous and unnecessary. That being said, I feel like I got my moneys worth and enjoyment out of it, but sad that it left a bad taste in my mouth towards the end.Read full review...
