Dishonorable Seller (angelgrace18) But a great Guitar, At least the one I picked up at Guitar Center on Sale for $1,200.00

This guitar feels just right on my lap (Very light) and sounds bright, crisp and soft with just the right amount of deep musical tone required. And being that it is a solid wood guitar, I looking forward to it maturing like a fine bottle of wine. I also love the smell of the mahogany; like an old church grand piano, the smell of aged elegance and prestige, an instrument worthy of ultimate respect. I’m intimidated at times to pick it up and play it, till I remember; Oh Yea, it mine; I can do what ever I want with it. and then wondering after playing it a while; where did the time go. The guitar sound so good that it make me sound like a much better guitar player then I really am. The guitar comes with a hard case that’s a prefect fit. If your looking for something glamorous this one is not for you, this is as simply and basic as it gets a true masterpiece.Read full review...

ok condition, not great. lots of body marks and fret board wear also

serious fret ware. after cleaning and setting up for a passive under saddle pickup, the guitar will be evaluated for re-dress or re-fret work.

A Closet Queen Comes Out Shining

I enjoy purchasing and restoring "distressed" instruments, especially guitars. I was attracted to this Martin (1) because of the famous name; (2) because it was advertised as being in damaged "BEATER" condition and sold at a relatively low price; (3) because I like the tone of a mahogany guitar. I have a comparable Guild D-125, newer and in better shape. I like them both but the Martin sounds a little bit "sweeter"- I can't describe the difference more clearly- its action is a bit easier, possibly because it's a mature instrument: about eight years old. It obviously had a rough life; I've repaired much worse. It arrived dusty but an initial cleanup with furniture polish did wonders.

I will have to cleat some expansion cracks in face and back, strip and refinish -with its traditional nitrocel lacquer finish, one of the easiest to remove and retouch- , but it's a great instrument and exactly the type I look for. Several upper frets are worn. I thought I might have to replace them but I won't. The action is fine, very easy on my fingers. I'm reluctant to begin stripping because I want to keep playing it- it's really hard to put down! A mature instrument at a great price. I would not have purchased a new one at or near list: the price seems excessive despite its quality.
After repairs, if and when I decide to resell, it will be at
a good profit!

perfect sound and great looks

This is a perfect guitar. Great details and just enough "bling" to add a small wow factor. It sounds super, plenty of tone and big sound. I have an real D'Angelico made in the 40's, which is suppose to be the "best". However, this Martin (although a different sound) is almost more fun to play. Been an archtop fan because I like the look, however, the Martin made me enjoy the "flat top" guitar. Great choice.

Huge, HUGE Guitar!...

Kind of a rare model (mine is the D-15S), this Martin has all-mahogany construction, a 12-fret neck, and slotted headstock. It has an oversized dreadnought body that is about the size of a small rowboat, but still pretty comfortable to hold and play. As you can imagine, the sound is really big, too. The action is low but not too low, and there is something in the set-up that makes you want to play cleanly and with your best technique. The reward is in the sound. Did I say it sounded big? Seriously, I have heard the term "piano-like" applied to guitars for years, but this thing is what I think they mean. Huge, punchy attack, well-balanced tone, I have never heard a straight acoustic guitar sustain like this baby does! Strum as hard as you like, you cannot "squash" the tone down. It just gets louder and louder. Loves fingerstyle playing too, with the 12-fret neck and wide board. This is a Martin that is not like the other Martins. Not for everybody, but I keep coming back to mine. Very cool guitar.Read full review...

Incredible acoustics

The D-15M is an incredible guitar. I purchased a used one expecting the wood to have mellowed over the years - and it had. I have a Martin X series to compare with - the Spruce top vs the Mahogany D-15M and both have their own character. The older guitars may have some playability issues and it took some adjustments on the truss rod to get the action I preferred. Overall, a solid wood guitar, made in the USA - can’t go wrong with that.Read full review...

It’s a Martin, what do you expect

It’s a beautiful guitar and it plays great. It has been a dream of mine to have this guitar for many years. I could never make the commitment. I finally did and am happy with the guitar.
In my honest opinion, however, I paid for that small dream to come true. It is a super pricey guitar and I’m sure you could find one cheaper that is on par and still by a drum kit with the money you saved. I payed extra because I wanted to have the guitar I eyed for years. Read full review...

Simple is better!

As the owner of a bunch of high end Martin and Taylor guitars, it's amazing how much this competes for my playing time. It's loud, but easily able to be played with nuance. The neck is very comfortable and the tone extremely mellow without being too boomy.Read full review...

it is a great guitar, made better by a fair price.

I've owned over 30 fine guitars. Among acoustics, I enjoyed this as much as my Martin D28, Gibson J45 Custom Rosewood, Larrivee D50 and Taylor 714 CE. It is a step below my Collings and above my Seagull, Breedlove and others.Read full review...

Another great sounding Martin guitar.

Been looking at this model Martin awhile. Saw it and made an offer to buy. Now playing it and so glad I got it. Unbelievable sound, beautiful look and oh the smell of that mahogany. If you want a great sounding Martin at a good entry price for a great guitar, look no further.
