MvC3 changes the fighting genre for the better!

Graphics: 4/5
Sound: 5/5
Controls: 5/5
Gameplay: 4/5
Replay: 5/5
Overall: 4.5/5

Graphics: 4/5
The graphics are very good in this game. The 3D art style transposed to a 2D game is once again well done by Capcom. The frame rate and the smoothness of this game is very impressive, which is key in a fighting game. I went into the game with low expectations (considering that the last MvC game was released 10 years ago). The in-game rendering, images, and colors really put you into the game. It moves so fast that you really don’t see the flaws unless you are looking for them. The most interesting thing that this game does well are the special aerial-combos and the tag animations, and the animations of the hyper combos (especially a level 3 finish). The shadows, lighting effects, and motions are good, and get you into the game. The charm is the comic art style, yet it is not as detailed as Super Street Fighter 4.

Sound: 5/5
What gives this game a 4/5 in the sound department is the soundtrack, the speech, and the sound effects. A lot of care and love went into making sure there was an impact when hits were made. The voice acting is superb and it really brings back the days of the arcade from Marvel vs. Capcom 1 + 2.

Controls: 5/5
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is easy to pick up and play if you are new to the fighting genre, yet deep enough that you can make it as complex (for you veterans) as you wish. As an example, let’s compare the control schemes between Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Street Fighter 4. Having a Tournament Edition stick from the release of Street Fighter 4, it is the same layout and button configuration as the MvC3 Tournament Edition stick. In using this stick with this game, I am starting to prefer using the standard controller that comes with the system. You can tell the developers wanted as much adoption as possible to this game, and made it nice with the button layout and intuitive to use, especially in the heat of the moment. I must say that compared to a traditional fighting game, the standard controller may be better than the fight stick, and is the way to go for this title – however, it is up to the users preference.

Gameplay: 4/5
Let me start by saying that when playing this game with a friend, there is nothing better. I have logged in 6 hours so far in the game, and only stopped because of work and sleep. This is a fun multiplayer game. However, if you have to go it solo, this is still a fun experience. This game can be completed in about 4-8 hours (depending on skill level and difficulty setting) to unlock everything, but it is an enjoyable experience. It is a through back to some fun gaming without the serious overtones found in many games. The reason it isn’t perfect is because playing online can sometimes be brutal, especially if new to the scene.

Replay Value – 5/5
This is a great game, and a fun game, to play. The game is not too serious, and an awesome title that has been 10 years in the making. Though it is a shift from the standard fighting genre and control layout (as well as complexity), it is a must have in my book. All this being said, this was an enjoyable playing experience, especially in co-op mode/on-line mode, to play... and I have many more hours that I know I am going to invest in this title. All I can say is that if you disregarded this game because of it being a fighting game, or the because of the new control scheme, please take anothe

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (SE)

I like the graphics and the way dialogue is character specific. I disliked that all of the characters from previous Marvel vs. Capcom games are not available for play (I would have liked more characters to have been available in the game or at least via download. Examples, playable final villains, Silver Surfer, Thanos, Venom, Colossus, Dahlsim, Dee Jay, Zangief, M. Bison to name some). Plus, Chun Li's ending is an obvious error.Read full review...

Good game but should have 2 unlockable character expiration

Graphics: 4/5

Overall: 4.5/5

Worth getting but some of the characters are too cheesy. I would say it's a nice game but there's room for some improvement. This game is good but as look as you don't look at the pixels that close it'll look good but if you take time to notice the pictures. it's pixels. Overall I would recommend this game to anyone in particular. This game is a great buy if you are into fighting games! I would say the graphics are better then the ones they previously made.Read full review...

addictive fun

Great Game! very funny and addictive

the best side of the game are the opening and cinematics, the power effects and background details,

the bad is the ending of each character, It could be better and the characters comic look needed more work

If you love to play with your family or friends, believe me, this is your game ;)

Kicking rear will put Smile on face!

In MVC3 you better get some practice and training because you don't want to miss out on taking out opponents with some serious and complex attack combos. The background story blends the two worlds quiet nicely, but I won't be leaving any spoilers. This game will delightfully entertain you! Prepare for some non-stop action. It has a memorable sound track, new awesome and classic characters, and the 2D/3D graphics are just amazing. You will have a blast!!Read full review...

Fun but not a lot of long time play value

The game itself is a traditional battle type game. Think mortal combat but with marvel and capcom characters. It's fun for a while by yourself. But with no plot to speak of it does get old pretty quick. It is a lot more fun to play with someone else.
Now the special edition aspects. The steel case is cool. The mini comic is Very short but somewhat of a collectors item.
Considering its lack if longevity in the play department it's a fun purchase but try and get it at a better than list price.

Great Accessible Fighter

This game is incredibly accessible, but in a good way. I played Super Street Fighter IV, and picked up a lot of skills that i carried into this game, and chaining together combos is incredibly fun. The only problem is the shoddy online, and hopefully Capcom will fix this, and add some more modes through dlc rather than have us pay for another game like they always do. Anyway, if your not sure if you'll like this game, try renting it, but if this is your first fighter, and your willing to put in the effort in training mode and arcade, the rewards of kicking a human opponent from side to side on the screen is priceless. Excellent fighting game.Read full review...

Awesome

Special edition is awesome this game is for the comic fans and fighting genre lovers alike. Although theskillset is easier than usual fighting games which dissapointed me, the gameplay is fun and there seems to be many different combos althought the skill level to use them has been lowered. 100% worh the priceRead full review...
