a journey like no other

mass effect is an action/ adventure game with some heavy RPG elements mixed in. please understand this, if you only play games like halo and gears of war and intense first-person or third-person shooters, this may not be for you. yes there is some third-person shooting, but it's not the focus of the game.

but if you want a game with a engaging, lengthy story this is definately it. it's almost like they took a third-person shooter and mixed it with a legend of zelda or something like that.

Mass Effect XBOX 360

This is a fun game! I do not like RPG's at all. I find them boring and not what I am looking for. However, the interactive dialog, the need to explore worlds, and the cobat make this an exceptional game. I cannot compare it to anything because I really have played nothing close to it. There is just so much to it. But I am normally a fan of Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, Army of Two and the like, and I find this a great game.Read full review...

Mass Effect, great game

Decided to buy after reading all the reviews and seeing all the 10/10, 5/5 scores. This game genre was not up my ally... but I still love this game. Hours of fun well worth $60 but on ebay its a must for $35-$45. It's also a ADULT game... you button mashers that don't like listening and watching the story develope might not like it. You still get to shoot and throw grenades, upgrade armor and weapons, but for the most part it's role playing (witch I wasn't into until I played this!!).
If you like sci-fi, buy it
If you like shooters, buy it
If you like role playing, buy it
If you want a great story, buy it
If you bought Far Cry, buy this

Big improvement over K.O.T.O.R.

I prefer the gameplay style of Oblivion over Mass Effect, but I am definately enjoying the game so far. Lots of open ended exploration and much improved fighting controls over the older version of the game, eventhough the same game engine is used. Definately worth picking up a used copy if you enjoy very open ended in depth games.Read full review...

Best Sci-Fi FPS/RPG I've EVER played by far!

I've played a lot of single player RPG's in my lifetime from turn based to RTS influenced to FPS influenced to standard pen and paper influenced. The voice acting and attention to story and detail in this game are TOP NOTCH.

This game is nearly as enthralling as the Vampire the Masquerade games were (Redemption and Bloodlines) - and that's high praise coming from someone that could not get enough of those 2 games.

If you love playing a movie or playing a book - this is the game for you. It's one of those rare RPG's that hooks you right from the start and just gets more and more interesting as you go.

Pro-tip: Read ALL the details of everything you find while exploring. The backstory of each species is interesting and adds to the immersion.

5 minutes playtime review

I heard a lot of great reviews about this game. I am writing this review base on 5 minutes of game play. First of all, choosing between where you were born and raised was excellent and choosing the psychological state is also
a great way to start. When the game actually starts, they narrated the type of person you are. Unlike any other RPG games i've played before.
Secondly the diologue between the two ship mates was smooth. Excellent voice acting. Choosing the responses is fun.

Mass Effect - Mass Affection

This game was incredible. I personally never been much of an RPG gamer but this was amazing. I originally rented the game through gamefly and played it for weeks and beat it a few times before I finally sent it back. I made the decision to buy it and I still love it. My gaming preferences usually do not include replays. Most of the time when I beat a game I'm simply done with it and move on. This game was way different. The replay value is so expansive because the game is so huge.

Apparently there is to be a downloadable expansion pack available soon to add more missions to the game.

Also according to the Sci-vs.-Fi on SciFi channel, the game designers said that your character and his traits (which are formed by your actions and decisions in-game) will be passed along to Mass Effect 2 and 3, thus making the lifetime of your character over the trilogy. Simply put the best game I've played in its class. 10/10. You owe it to yourself to play it.Read full review...

i love this game. great characcter development and customization. it's like half-life 2 meets gta, with halo.

despite lengthy dialogues (can skip with the X button most of the time) and a singular script (albeit long), there is surprisingly good replayability.

definitely worth the money. and mass effect 2 (late 2009) will use game saves from this version. a good addition to any xbox game library. highly recommend. i give it a 95/100Read full review...

Fantastic RPG Game

This is one of the best RPG games available for the XBox 360. It combines the rich character-driven elements of Bioware's previous RPG games, including Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, with a terrific, layered plot in which your character faces complex moral choices.
